A Career that Empowers You to Build Your Future

As a Mortgage Loan Closer, you play a critical role in the final stage of the homebuying journey — ensuring that every loan is accurately prepared, compliantly documented, and successfully closed so that Lennar customers can step into their new homes with confidence. Working within Lennar's mortgage operations, this role applies specialized knowledge of closing procedures, regulatory requirements, and loan documentation to execute closings with precision and care. By upholding the highest standards of accuracy and process adherence, the Mortgage Loan Closer directly supports Lennar's mission of delivering an exceptional homeownership experience from first contact through the closing table.

Your Responsibilities on the Team

  • Review executed loan files for completeness and accuracy prior to closing, verifying that all required documentation — including title commitments, hazard insurance, and flood certifications — is present, compliant, and consistent with underwriting approval conditions.
  • Prepare and issue closing disclosure (CD) packages in accordance with TRID timing requirements, coordinating with settlement agents, title companies, and loan officers to ensure borrowers receive accurate figures within regulatory deadlines.
  • Calculate final closing figures including cash to close, prorations, prepaid items, and lender fees, reconciling all figures against the loan estimate and approved loan terms to ensure compliance and borrower transparency.
  • Coordinate closing dates, times, and locations with settlement agents, borrowers, and internal loan teams, proactively communicating any scheduling changes or documentation deficiencies that could delay the closing or affect the borrower's experience.
  • Respond to escalated closing inquiries from settlement agents, title companies, and internal stakeholders, applying specialized knowledge of loan guidelines and closing procedures to resolve documentation discrepancies or funding holds in a timely manner.
  • Audit closed loan packages received from settlement agents for post-closing accuracy, identifying missing signatures, incorrect dates, or document deficiencies and initiating cure requests to ensure files are investor-ready and meet secondary market standards.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records within the loan origination system (LOS) throughout the closing process, updating milestone statuses, uploading executed documents, and ensuring the audit trail is complete and current at each stage.
  • Stay current on applicable federal and state mortgage regulations, investor guidelines, and internal closing procedures, applying updated requirements to daily work to ensure that all closings remain compliant and that no file advances with unresolved deficiencies.

Your Toolbox

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or vocational training in mortgage lending, real estate, finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in mortgage closing, title, or a related loan operations role, with demonstrated familiarity with TRID, RESPA, and standard closing documentation requirements.
  • Working knowledge of closing disclosure preparation, cash-to-close calculations, and the reconciliation of loan terms against final figures issued to borrowers and settlement agents.
  • Proficiency with a loan origination system (LOS) such as Encompass or a comparable platform, with the ability to navigate file milestones, upload documents, and maintain accurate data entry throughout the closing lifecycle.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to process accuracy, with the ability to identify documentation deficiencies, inconsistencies in loan terms, or compliance gaps before they impact closing timelines or borrower experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate clearly and professionally with settlement agents, title companies, loan officers, and borrowers under deadline-driven conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple active closing files simultaneously, prioritize tasks based on closing date urgency, and escalate unresolved issues appropriately while keeping all parties informed of status and next steps.
