Compensation: $110,000 Guaranteed Base + Per-Client Incremental Compensation | Targeted Total Compensation: $160,000 – $182,000
Location: Remote within AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, LA, MD, MI, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV.

YOU’RE THE ONE OWNER'S CALL WHEN THE NUMBERS DON’T ADD UP

An owner tells you, “We’re busy, but there’s no cash.” You find out why: the pricing, the unbilled hours, the slow collections, the hire that never paid for itself. Then you explain it in plain English and help them fix it.

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

THE ROLE

HTM helps solo and small law firm owners build more profitable businesses. As our CFO & Business Advisor, you’ll be the financial leader and trusted advisor to about 30 law firm owners. Law firms are professional services businesses, where the people are the production engine. You’ll advise on pricing, margins, cash flow, hiring, and growth, building the models, forecasts, and KPI dashboards yourself. We provide the portfolio of potential clients and the systems. No cold calling or prospecting.

THIS MIGHT BE YOU IF

  • You have 8+ years as a CFO or the most senior finance leader, including fractional, outsourced, or virtual CFO work.
  • You have advised several owners or business lines at the same time.
  • You think in utilization, realization, capacity, and revenue per head, from consulting, engineering, accounting, architecture, IT services, or similar firms. (A huge plus.)
  • You have improved profitability, pricing, or margins, and can show the numbers.
  • You are Profit First certified, or you think like it. (A strong plus.)

Legal experience is not required. We’ll teach you the law-firm specifics.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

It is a full-time W-2 position with no outside work or consulting. It is not a controller, bookkeeping, treasury, SEC reporting, capital raising, M&A, or nonprofit finance role. If your background is only real estate, construction, or manufacturing, expect a learning curve.

WHY HTM

  • $110,000 guaranteed base salary, plus incremental compensation for each client you serve, up to 30 clients. Targeted total compensation is $160,000 to $182,000.
  • Full-time W-2 with benefits: medical, dental, and vision (75% paid by HTM), 401(k) match, unlimited PTO, and more
  • 100% remote, with travel to U.S. events a couple of times a year
  • Inc. 5000 every year since 2013
  • A short, hands-on working session is part of the interview process
