Job description

Why Valtech? We’re the experience innovation company - a trusted partner to the world’s most recognized brands. To our people we offer growth opportunities, a values-driven culture, international careers and the chance to shape the future of experience.

The opportunity

At Valtech, you’ll find an environment designed for continuous learning, meaningful impact, and professional growth. Whether you're pioneering new digital solutions, challenging conventional thinking or building the next generation of customer experiences, your work will help transform industries.

We are proud of:

The role

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you are passionate about experience innovation and eager to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You bring 2 or more years of experience, a growth mindset and a drive to make a lasting impact.

At Valtech, we design, build and run large-scale global data, experience and commerce platforms together with our clients. These platforms connect services from many vendors and increasingly include AI-enabled components. Site Reliability Engineering is at the core of how we manage them. As an SRE, you act as the bridge between software development and operations. You help delivery teams ship stable software quickly, anticipate instability and improve the reliability of the systems we manage. You will join a team of SREs of various levels, act as an escalation point for associate SREs and be backed up by your senior colleagues. You will work with multidisciplinary delivery teams in a DevOps way of working that keeps everyone focused on what happens in production.

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • A curious problem solver who challenges the status quo
  • A collaborator who values teamwork and knowledge-sharing
  • Excited by the intersection of technology, creativity and data
  • Experienced in Agile methodologies and consulting (a plus)

Role responsibilities

  • Maintain systems for observability
  • Adjust and maintain SLOs
  • Participate in and facilitate incident resolution, including on-call duty (maximum of one week-long shift per month)
  • Work on proactive improvements that increase the reliability of the managed platforms
  • Work with teams to assess anticipated or manifested failure scenarios and define possible mitigations
  • Help create runbooks to remediate or prevent failure scenarios
  • Reduce work that does not add value

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Support Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles and experience working with SLOs
  • Experience resolving severe incidents on high-impact platforms
  • Scripting skills and experience automating moderately complex processes
  • Familiarity with automation systems such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Ansible or Chef
  • Upper-intermediate English level (at least B2), written and spoken

Nice to have qualifications

  • Experience with React.js. We are seeing more full-stack opportunities and want to grow the team in that direction
  • Incident management experience on a production environment of a public-facing online service with high business value and high traffic, in a 24x7 setup
  • Experience with commerce platforms
  • Experience working in corporate environments
  • Experience with international, on-shore and off-shore teams
  • Basic knowledge of serverless services in one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with monitoring and APM systems such as Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus or Grafana
  • Experience with pipelining tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab or Jenkins
  • Familiarity with Docker
  • A solution mindset and a desire to help your colleagues

If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.
