Job description

Job Summary

As a Senior Product Owner, you will play a key role within the Product & Technology organisation, owning the product backlog and delivery outcomes for multiple products and platforms. Working alongside the Head of Product Ownership, you will translate product strategy into a clear, prioritised roadmap and actionable requirements, making the day-to-day prioritisation decisions that balance client commitments, technical health and new capability. Grounded in a deep understanding of business needs, user pain points and the Ethixbase360 solution ecosystem, you will lead discovery, define how success is measured, and make sure what we deliver creates measurable value for clients and internal stakeholders. Working in an agile environment, you will partner closely with Product Managers, UI/UX, Development, AI & Data, Client Success, Support and other cross-functional teams, and help raise the standard of product ownership across the team by mentoring other Product Owners.

What you will do

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  • Own the gathering, documentation and validation of business and user requirements for your product areas, working with the Head of Product Ownership to ensure clarity, completeness and alignment with the wider product strategy.

  • Define epics, user stories and acceptance criteria to a consistently high standard, providing engineering teams with the context, rationale and supporting documentation they need to build with confidence.

  • Translate complex compliance and due diligence needs into clear, testable requirements, identifying edge cases, dependencies and regulatory considerations early.

Agile Product Development

  • Own and prioritise the product backlog for your areas, making clear, well-reasoned trade-off decisions between client commitments, technical debt and new capability, and articulating the rationale to stakeholders.

  • Lead backlog refinement and sprint planning with your teams, ensuring work is well understood, appropriately sized and meets the Definition of Ready before it enters a sprint.

  • Act as the decision-maker for your teams on scope and requirements, resolving questions quickly, removing blockers and accepting or rejecting delivered work against agreed acceptance criteria.

  • Coordinate dependencies across squads and locations, represent your product areas in release planning, and raise delivery risks early with clear options for resolution.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Client Success, Solutions, Sales and Leadership, presenting roadmaps, managing expectations and leading difficult trade-off conversations with a clear, evidence-based rationale.

  • Ensure end-to-end requirement traceability from discovery through delivery and release, keeping stakeholders informed with clear, proactive communication at every stage.

  • Lead pre-release and post-release enablement for internal teams (e.g., release notes, FAQs, walkthroughs), making sure Client Success, Support and Sales are confident in what is changing and why.

User-Centric Problem Solving

  • Lead product discovery for your areas, framing problems, forming hypotheses and partnering with UI/UX to validate ideas with users before they reach the backlog.

  • Analyse workflows and user journeys across the Ethixbase360 ecosystem to identify optimisation opportunities, using data, user feedback and support insights to build the case for change.

  • Own usability testing and validation of delivered features, confirming they meet business and user needs and feeding the findings back into future priorities.

Outcomes & Measurement

  • Define clear success measures for features and initiatives before development begins, agreeing with stakeholders what “good” looks like.

  • Track adoption, usage and impact after release, using data to assess whether delivered work achieved its intended outcome.

  • Use performance insights to inform prioritisation, iterating on, improving or retiring features based on evidence rather than assumption.

AI & Data Delivery

  • Work with the AI & Data team to take AI concepts and prototypes through to production-ready requirements, defining scope, data dependencies and the criteria for moving from experiment to release.

  • Define requirements for AI-enabled features that meet the expectations of compliance users, including explainability, confidence indicators and human-in-the-loop review.

  • Partner with data and engineering teams to understand data quality, coverage and limitations, ensuring these are reflected in requirements, acceptance criteria and user-facing messaging.

Documentation & Quality

  • Produce and maintain clear, structured documentation including requirement specifications, diagrams, workflows and product notes, setting the standard for documentation quality across the team.

  • Own quality from a product perspective, reviewing test cases with QA, leading UAT and confirming that delivered functionality meets requirements.

  • Own release notes and user-facing documentation for your product areas, ensuring end users have clear, easy-to-understand reference material to get the most out of the platform.

Leadership & Ways of Working

  • Mentor and coach Product Owners and Business Analysts, sharing best practice and helping them develop their skills in requirements, prioritisation and stakeholder management.

  • Set and model a high standard for product ownership, including story quality, refinement practice and documentation.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the team’s ways of working, helping shape practices such as Definition of Ready, Definition of Done and refinement processes.

  • Act as a point of cover and escalation for the Head of Product Ownership where needed.

Who you are

  • Analytical and detail‑oriented — able to break down complex problems and translate them into structured requirements.

  • User‑focused — passionate about understanding user needs and advocating for solutions that meaningfully improve user experience.

  • Collaborative and influential — able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and bring people with you on difficult decisions.

  • Curious and proactive — eager to learn about product and feature capabilities, market trends, and client challenges.

  • Decisive — comfortable working with ambiguity and making well-reasoned decisions with incomplete information.

  • Experienced in agile delivery — a strong working knowledge of agile principles and practices, with the confidence to help shape how your teams work.

  • Strong communicator — capable of producing clear documentation and confidently articulating requirements, priorities and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Organised and structured — able to manage multiple priorities across several products, maintain tidy backlogs and provide consistent follow‑through.

  • Have 6–10 years’ experience working as a PO or equivalent function within an agile, ideally B2B SaaS, environment, including time owning a product area end to end.

  • A track record of delivering measurable product outcomes, and of mentoring or coaching others.

  • Knowledge of compliance, due diligence or a related field (e.g., anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, ESG or supply-chain due diligence regulation) is strongly preferred.
