Job description

Winning and staffing the client work that powers NewWorld’s growth.

  • Location: Remote and US-based, with the option to work from our New York office
  • Type: Full-time
  • Salary: $145,000–$175,000
  • Travel: Regular, aligned with client pitches and engagements

About the role

You run business development for NewWorld Strategies end to end, as the CEO’s thought partner and daily collaborator. You source, pitch, and close opportunities, then turn each signed engagement into a staffed, onboarded, running project. It’s not a solo act. You drive the CEO’s team and the wider business to make it happen.

On the business development side, you go after opportunities for both command centers and client shows, manage client relationships, and make sure the right people know what we’re doing. You start conversations on potential projects, develop the point of view, strategy, and proposal behind each one with the CEO and the team, then pitch, sell, and close.

Once something is sold, you figure out who staffs it and run the onboarding so the team starts clean. This is a powerful number-two operator’s seat for someone who knows how to build an operation, a system, and a flow, and how to rally a team around it. You are not the person holding overall strategy for the division, and you should not want to be. The role reports to the CEO for now and will eventually report to the Head of Strategies.

What you’ll do

Business development

  • Run NewWorld’s existing business development process, from first conversation through proposal, contract, and invoice
  • Manage the pipeline for Creator Command Centers and client shows, sourcing new opportunities and keeping active ones moving
  • Develop proposals with the CEO and the team using our established workflows, then pitch and close them
  • Handle contracting and invoicing with our finance and operations partners
  • Manage client relationships from first conversation to renewal
  • Share our materials and keep the right people aware of what NewWorld is doing
  • Improve the process as you go, building on the systems already in place

From sold to running

  • Staff each engagement, working out who inside the organization works on each project it
  • Run internal onboarding so a new project starts clean and at speed
  • Serve as the connective tissue between the client and the internal teams delivering the work in the kick off phase of new projects
  • Hand off cleanly to the delivery team while staying accountable for the relationship

Building the operation

  • Maintain and improve the system and flow that business development runs on, from pipeline tracking to proposal templates
  • Bring discipline to how opportunities are qualified, prioritized, and pursued
  • Make the operation repeatable, so it survives growth and does not live in one person’s head

What you bring

8+ years in business development, client leadership, or an operating role in a consultancy, agency, or media company

  • A proven record sourcing, pitching, and closing significant client engagements yourself
  • Experience owning senior client relationships and deepening them over the life of an engagement
  • Strong strategic writing, with the ability to build the point of view and the proposal, not just the schedule
  • Experience staffing and onboarding project teams inside an organization
  • A builder’s instinct for systems, pipelines, and process where none existed before
  • Comfort operating as a number two, with the judgment to know which calls are yours
  • Fluency with creator-led, narrative, or communications work and the ability to speak about it credibly
  • Experience in an early-stage or fast-moving environment, with ambiguity as the normal condition

Who you are

  • You’re a closer, energized by the hunt and by the moment a deal lands.
  • You’re an operator at heart, the kind of person who builds the system and flow everyone else runs on.
  • You’re warm and direct with clients, and senior people trust you quickly.
  • You’re comfortable as a powerful number two, the connective tissue rather than the face of the strategy.
  • You keep a clear head under pressure and move fast when the moment demands it, and you’re driven by NewWorld’s mission and the audiences we exist to reach.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range is $145,000–$175,000, is set by experience, and includes a generous progressive bonus structure tied to business development wins. Compensation is competitive with current market rates for comparable roles in media and communications. The role includes full benefits, with health coverage and paid time off. The role is remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York, Toronto, or Los Angeles, and the option to work from our New York office.
