Help People Move Forward Through Meaningful Employment

Ascension Recovery Services is seeking a Workforce Development Supervisor – Return to Work to lead a team dedicated to helping individuals overcome barriers, successfully return to the workforce, and maintain long-term employment.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, solving complex problems, building community and employer relationships, and seeing measurable results from their work.

You will supervise our Return-to-Work Liaisons and oversee the day-to-day delivery of services—from initial participant engagement and work-readiness planning through employment placement and long-term retention.

This position is based in West Virginia and requires up to 25% travel throughout the state to support team members, participants, employers, and community partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of Return-to-Work Liaisons.
  • Manage participant referrals and caseloads to ensure timely outreach, intake, planning, and follow-up.
  • Review participant cases and help your team address barriers that could delay a return to work or threaten continued employment.
  • Ensure individualized Return-to-Work plans reflect participant needs, functional abilities, employment goals, and job requirements.
  • Support complex situations involving employer concerns, workplace accommodations, job modifications, recurring absences, and other employment barriers.
  • Help connect participants with appropriate recovery, behavioral health, rehabilitation, wellness, vocational, and community resources.
  • Build and support strong relationships with employers, providers, and community partners throughout West Virginia.
  • Partner with the Employment Coordinator to connect participants with employment and vocational training opportunities.
  • Review case documentation and service plans for quality, accuracy, and timely completion.
  • Monitor program performance, including participant engagement, caseloads, placements, and employment retention.
  • Track 30-, 60-, 90-, and 180-day employment retention outcomes and identify opportunities to improve results.
  • Coach and develop team members while creating clear expectations and accountability.
  • Ensure consistent execution of Return-to-Work workflows, documentation standards, and grant requirements.
  • Identify trends, barriers, and opportunities and bring solutions to the Program Director.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can balance compassion with accountability. You should be comfortable leading a team, navigating complex participant situations, working with employers and community partners, and using data to understand whether the program is making a meaningful difference.

Preferred background includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, behavioral health, workforce development, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in workforce development, employment services, case management, vocational rehabilitation, behavioral health, substance use disorder recovery services, or related program operations.
  • Previous supervisory, team-lead, or program leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong coaching and staff-development skills.
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex barriers.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with participants, employers, providers, and community partners.
  • Comfort working with performance measures and program outcomes.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% throughout West Virginia.

What Success Looks Like
