What this position entails

Our R&D team tests the viability of new products and capabilities that drive revenue and operational efficiencies via software, data, and emerging technologies. We have a strong focus on delivering value – customer, operational, strategic, and learning – critical to the organization’s long-term success.

As a Product Manager, R&D, you’ll provide product leadership for our team’s experimentation end-to-end, from discovery to early adoption and transition. You’ll partner closely with engineering, data science, clinical, operational, and commercial teams to rapidly test the viability and impact of ideas.

You’ll combine strategic judgment with hands-on execution and help determine when experiments should be scaled, refined, handed off, or stopped. Success requires comfort with ambiguity, versatility, strong product judgment, and technical curiosity. If you love wearing multiple hats, thrive on creative problem-solving, and want your work to have a direct impact, this is the role for you.

What you will be doing

Product Strategy, Discovery & Delivery

  • Identify and frame opportunities across new products, product features, reusable capabilities, workflow improvements, and emerging-technology experiments
  • Define product vision, target outcomes, success measures, and learning objectives appropriate to each initiative’s maturity and purpose
  • Translate project needs into clear requirements, backlog items, and process flows
  • Engage users, clients, and internal stakeholders through discovery, concept validation, demonstrations, pilots, and feedback sessions
  • Partner closely with engineering, data science, design, clinical, operations, and other stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes and make sound product tradeoffs
  • Maintain product roadmaps and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones
  • Rapidly develop and evaluate prototypes, proofs of concept, and lightweight MVPs to test assumptions and inform investment decisions
  • Use evidence and feedback to recommend whether initiatives should be scaled, refined, transitioned to another team, or stopped
  • Contribute to user acceptance testing (UAT) and quality assurance (QA), identifying defects and ensuring each release meets quality standards
  • Communicate product strategy, evidence, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders
  • Support transition of validated solutions long-term owners, including training and documentation
  • Serve as product expert in client and internal conversations, supporting early sales and adoption

AI, Emerging Technology & Capability Enablement

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to use AI—including generative AI—to improve product development, internal workflows, client solutions, and product experiences
  • Shape AI-enabled features and experiments by defining user problems, expected value, evaluation criteria, guardrails, and human oversight
  • Partner with technical, data science, security, privacy, legal, clinical, and compliance stakeholders to support responsible and appropriate AI use
  • Structure experiments that utilize other emerging technologies and make recommendations around use
  • Create reusable approaches, guidance, and product patterns that enable other teams to adopt proven capabilities effectively
  • Champion a culture of responsible experimentation, rapid learning, knowledge sharing, and evidence-based decision-making

What we need

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in product management, product development, software R&D, innovation, or related roles, preferably within healthcare technology or other data intensive domains
  • Demonstrated success leading ambiguous, cross-functional product work from discovery and experimentation through validation, delivery, and adoption
  • Experience translating complex needs into product strategy, requirements, and measurable outcomes
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled product development and the opportunities, limitations, quality considerations, and responsible-use practices associated with AI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence across technical, business, and senior stakeholder groups
  • Proficiency with product-development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365, or comparable platforms

What you bring to the table

  • Strong product judgment and the ability to connect strategy, user needs, technical feasibility, risk, and measurable value
  • Experience collaborating deeply with engineering, data, design, and domain experts to deliver products, features, prototypes, or reusable capabilities
  • Ability to identify high-value AI use cases and partner with technical teams to evaluate AI-enabled experiences and outputs
  • Comfort experimenting with emerging technologies and converting uncertain opportunities into structured learning plans and decisions
  • Track record of prioritizing product work and making clear tradeoffs across impact, effort, risk, dependencies, and speed to learning
  • Ability to build alignment, challenge assumptions constructively, and influence decisions without formal authority
  • Analytical mindset and evidence-based decision-making skills
  • Constructive, “can do” approach to overcoming obstacles
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to take ownership, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Proactive in seeking input, sharing insights, enabling others, and stepping into strategic or hands-on work wherever needed to move initiatives forward

  Wish list

  • Advanced degree, diploma, or certification in a related field (e.g., Product Management, Business Analysis, Healthcare Informatics, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence)
  • Experience bringing AI-enabled products or features from concept through production, including evaluation, monitoring, or human-in-the-loop design
  • Experience with AI-assisted product-development tools, prompt design, model evaluation, or rapid prototyping
  • Experience working with clinical data, such as medical claims, electronic health records (EHR), or other healthcare datasets
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and experience working in a HIPAA-compliant environment
  • Background in healthcare, life sciences, legal services, insurance, or other data-intensive or regulated industries
  • Hands-on experience planning and performing UAT or product-focused QA
  • Experience presenting recommendations to senior leadership and facilitating cross-functional decision-making
  • Familiarity with agile, lean, design thinking, or other modern product-development and experimentation approaches
