Fully Remote | Life Sciences SaaS | $180K OTE Earning Potential

SimpleTrials is a growing provider of cloud-based Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) solutions, helping organizations simplify clinical trial operations, improve oversight, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Our solutions support pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, medical device manufacturers, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), academic research institutions, and nonprofit research organizations.

With customers operating across more than 60 countries, SimpleTrials combines powerful functionality, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach to help research organizations manage clinical trials more efficiently.

As we continue to expand our market presence, we are building a high-performing sales organization focused on accelerating growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and delivering measurable value to our clients.

Position Overview

SimpleTrials is seeking a motivated, results-oriented Account Executive (AE) to join our growing Business Development team.

This individual will be responsible for driving new customer acquisition, managing the full sales cycle, and developing relationships with organizations seeking modern, efficient, and cost-effective clinical trial management solutions.

The ideal candidate brings a successful track record in B2B SaaS or technology sales, strong consultative selling skills, and the ability to engage multiple stakeholders throughout complex purchasing processes.

Prior experience selling eClinical, clinical research technology, or Life Sciences software is preferred but not required. We welcome candidates from other B2B SaaS and technology sectors who demonstrate strong sales fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn the clinical research industry.

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping and scaling the sales organization while contributing directly to SimpleTrials' continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, CRO, and academic research markets.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery through product demonstrations, proposal development, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities through outbound prospecting, inbound leads, referrals, and industry networking.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales targets and new customer acquisition goals.
  • Develop account strategies to engage prospective customers and identify opportunities within target markets.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Representatives (BDRs) and Marketing to maximize lead generation, qualification, and conversion.

Consultative Selling & Customer Engagement

  • Conduct discovery meetings to understand prospective customers' operational challenges, business objectives, existing technology environments, and purchasing requirements.
  • Present and demonstrate SimpleTrials solutions in a way that clearly connects product capabilities to customer needs and measurable business value.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including Clinical Operations, Clinical Research, IT, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and executive leadership.
  • Navigate complex sales cycles involving multiple decisionmakers, technical evaluations, compliance reviews, and procurement processes.
  • Develop compelling value propositions that differentiate SimpleTrials from competing solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to prospective customers throughout the evaluation and purchasing process.

Sales Execution & Pipeline Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity records, activity tracking, and sales forecasts within Salesforce CRM.
  • Develop and execute account plans and follow-up strategies to advance opportunities through the sales pipeline.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, pricing recommendations, presentations, and responses to customer inquiries.
  • Coordinate internal resources to support product demonstrations, technical evaluations, security questionnaires, and RFP responses.
  • Manage contract negotiations while balancing customer requirements and company commercial objectives.
  • Provide reliable pipeline reporting, revenue projections, and deal updates to sales leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing to provide feedback on lead quality, campaign effectiveness, market trends, and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and technical teams to address prospective customer requirements.
  • Facilitate smooth customer handoffs following contract execution to support onboarding and long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Share competitive intelligence, customer feedback, and market insights that help guide product positioning and go-to-market strategy.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to build awareness and generate new business opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably in SaaS, enterprise software, cloud technology, or another technology-driven industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full sales cycle, including prospecting, discovery, presentations, negotiation, and closing.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets and consistently develop qualified pipeline.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to identify business challenges and communicate solution value.
  • Experience selling to multiple stakeholders and navigating complex organizational buying decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or comparable systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications, industry terminology, and technical concepts.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a growing organization.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Experience selling software or technology solutions to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, CRO, or other Life Sciences organizations.
  • Familiarity with eClinical technologies such as CTMS, eTMF, EDC or related clinical research software.
  • Understanding of clinical trial operations, research workflows, or regulated environments.
  • Experience selling software requiring technical evaluations, security reviews, or regulatory compliance assessments.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards such as ICH-GCP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, or GxP.
  • Experience selling to mid-market or enterprise customers.
