The Opportunity

We are supporting an established technology business within the public transportation sector in the appointment of a Business Development Manager to help drive continued growth across the US market.

This is a customer-focused sales position combining new business development with the growth and development of existing customer relationships.

The successful candidate will initially focus on opportunities within the mass transit and fare collection market, while also helping the business expand into adjacent sectors, including higher education.

This would suit a commercially driven sales professional who understands how to develop long-term customer relationships and navigate complex sales opportunities, particularly within public sector or technology-led environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow and develop relationships with existing transit customers.
  • Identify new opportunities within mass transit, fare collection and related markets.
  • Help expand the company's presence within adjacent markets, including higher education.
  • Build relationships with key customer stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Develop strategic account plans for both existing and prospective customers.
  • Manage opportunities through the complete sales lifecycle.
  • Identify upcoming projects, procurements and RFP opportunities.
  • Support and coordinate responses to RFPs and other formal procurement processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop appropriate customer solutions and commercial proposals.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer requirements, market developments and potential new opportunities.
  • Build a healthy and sustainable sales pipeline.

Experience & Skills

We are looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales or account management.
  • A strong track record of developing new business and building customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience developing and managing strategic accounts.
  • Experience working with RFPs, tenders or formal procurement processes.
  • The ability to manage longer and potentially complex sales cycles.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and developing new opportunities.

Experience within mass transit, public transportation, fare collection, ticketing or a related public sector market would be particularly valuable, but we are also interested in strong sales professionals from adjacent technology-led markets.
