Job description

Journeyman Computer Systems Engineer/Architect - Washington, DC (Remote)

6+ Months

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and reliable software releases.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Set up and manage monitoring tools and implement alerting systems to proactively identify issues.
  • Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (AWS) or on-premises servers, optimizing resource usage and cost.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and IT teams to streamline workflows and advocate for DevOps best practices.
  • Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps) to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Write scripts (Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks and develop custom automation solutions.
  • Implement backup strategies and disaster recovery plans, regularly testing recovery procedures.
  • Architect, build, and maintain cloud environments (AWS), ensuring scalable, resilient, and secure network architectures.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
  • Set up monitoring and alerting for cloud resources using tools like CloudWatch and App Dynamics.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation, enforcing cloud security best practices.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies, staying current with trends and best practices.

Required Skills:

  • AWS Cloud Platform, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
  • Incident management and alerting, version control (GitHub, Git Lab, Git Actions)
  • Scripting programming languages (Bash/Shell Scripting, Python)
  • Networking (Nginx, Vault, Encrypt) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • CI/CD Pipelines, Infra Engineering, and experience with tools like Backstage.io, EKS, Istio

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Kong Gateway implementation and monitoring

Expected Deliveries:

  • As agreed in Sprint Planning and PI planning

Education: Bachelor's Degree
