Job description

Staff Software Engineer (AI Native) – Drive Technical Vision & Innovation in Transportation Technology

Ready to make an impact on global industries using cutting-edge AI? Trimble is looking for an exceptional technical leader and problem-solver like you.

As a Staff Software Engineer in our single-threaded transportation team, you will participate on establishing core architecture, seting engineering standards for AI-augmented development, and leading the technical direction for robust, cloud-native applications that optimize operations for the global supply chain.

About Us:

Trimble is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds, transforming the ways work gets done. With relentless innovation in precise positioning, modeling, and data analytics, Trimble enables essential industries including construction, geospatial, and transportation. Whether it's helping customers build and maintain infrastructure, design and construct buildings, optimize global supply chains, or map the world, Trimble is at the forefront, driving productivity and progress.

In the Transportation & Logistics segment, our solutions make it safer, simpler, and more efficient to move freight—bringing together a global network of shippers, carriers, brokers, and 3PLs.

What Makes This Role Interesting:

In this role, you will define the architectural future of our next-generation SaaS and cloud-native TMS solutions within a high-performing Single-Threaded Organization. You won't just build features; you will define how our platform scales, mentor senior engineers, and serve as a pioneer for AI-native engineering methodologies (including AI coding assistants and automation workflows).

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Leadership: Lead the end-to-end technical strategy and architectural vision for scalable SaaS and cloud-native TMS applications across hybrid and cloud environments.
  • AI Engine & Workflow Strategy: Champion AI-native development workflows (e.g., Cursor, LLM integrations, automated code generation) across engineering teams—establishing best practices, quality gates, and review standards for AI-assisted software delivery.
  • Full-Stack & System Design: Oversee high-throughput microservices and front-end architectures, ensuring system resiliency, security, performance, and seamless integration between React front ends and .NET back ends.
  • Technical Mentorship & Influence: Guide and mentor Senior Engineers and cross-functional feature teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous delivery, and architectural rigor.
  • Domain & Business Alignment: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, and domain experts to translate complex transportation logistics challenges into scalable, extensible system designs.

Your Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive full-stack software engineering experience, with a proven track record of architectural leadership for high-availability cloud platforms.
  • Expertise in modern web architecture: mastery of React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, state management, and modern front-end design patterns.
  • Deep back-end knowledge: Extensive hands-on and architectural experience with C#, .NET, .NET Core, and distributed RESTful microservice architectures.
  • AI-Native Engineering: Strong practical experience of AI-assisted software development (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, custom LLM tools) with the proven ability to establish code review, safety, and validation practices for AI-generated code.
  • Public Cloud & DevOps Vision: Azure cloud infrastructure, SQL Server optimization, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Cross-Team Impact: Demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple teams, build technical consensus, and solve complex system-level problems.
  • Global Collaboration: Experienced working within international, multi-time-zone team environments spanning Europe, Canada, and India.

Location: Remotely in Spain, Italy, Estonia or UK.

Why You'll Enjoy Working With Us:

  • At Trimble, we're not just a company that "does good"—we are a team dedicated to making a tangible, positive Real-World Impact. We build innovative solutions designed to solve the world's most critical challenges. From construction sites to transportation hubs, our work tangibly improves how people live, build, move, and grow.
  • You'll work on projects that truly matter: Our purpose-driven culture means you'll be helping to build and deliver solutions that make work faster, safer, and more sustainable for millions of people worldwide.
  • Collaborate with like-minded people: Our strong internal culture is a "hidden gem." You will work with a collaborative, supportive team that shares your purpose and fosters a genuine sense of belonging. We're a company of "visionary pragmatists" who think boldly and build things that work.
  • Be an owner: Trimble thrives on individuals who take initiative and embrace ownership. You'll find an entrepreneurial spirit where success is often "self-authored," empowering proactive "doers."
