We are committed to attracting and retaining top talent by offering competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

About this Role:

DIRECTOR, CATEGORY MANAGEMENT – DATA CENTERS

Build the supply strategy behind the infrastructure powering tomorrow.

EnergyLink, a Quanta Services company, is looking for a Director, Category Management – Data Centers to help lead the supply strategy behind complex, mission-critical data center infrastructure.

This is more than a procurement leadership role. We’re looking for a data center supply-chain leader, strategist, negotiator, and people developer who can turn market intelligence, supplier relationships, and commercial strategy into real business advantage.

You’ll lead a team of sourcing professionals responsible for equipment, materials, and services supporting data center construction and operations while building category strategies that improve cost, capacity, quality, schedule, innovation, and supplier performance.

What You'll Do:

You’ll own and influence category strategy across the data center portfolio while developing the people, supplier relationships, and processes needed to support continued growth.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing category management team, with a strong focus on coaching, professional development, talent attraction, and retention.
  • Build and execute category strategies for critical data center equipment, materials, and services.
  • Lead complex RFIs, RFPs, competitive bid events, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Build strategic supplier partnerships that create measurable value beyond price—including capacity, innovation, quality, service, safety, scalability, and schedule certainty.
  • Develop supply, capacity, and inventory strategies aligned with design, construction, commissioning, energization, and operational readiness.
  • Anticipate long-lead and critical equipment risks and develop mitigation strategies before they threaten project schedules.
  • Analyze pricing, availability, manufacturing capacity, lead times, emerging technologies, and supply-chain constraints across the data center market.
  • Partner across EnergyLink and Quanta with Engineering, Construction, Estimating, Project Controls, Operations, and operating companies to forecast demand and prepare for future opportunities.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs, sourcing processes, performance standards, reporting, analytics, and supplier-management practices.
  • Resolve supplier, specification, submittal, substitution, quality, and delivery challenges that could impact project outcomes.
  • Analyze spend, demand forecasts, project pipelines, and business needs to identify opportunities for savings, resiliency, scalability, and value creation.
What You'll Bring:

You know strategic sourcing, but you also understand the business behind the buy. You bring the leadership presence to build teams, the commercial judgment to negotiate major supplier relationships, and the data center knowledge to understand what can make—or break—a project.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
  • Significant experience supporting data center construction or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Sourcing experience within one or more critical data center infrastructure categories, including electrical distribution and backup power, mechanical and cooling systems, controls and automation, structured cabling and low-voltage systems, or related construction materials.
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership experience developing and leading teams.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, category strategy, negotiations, and delivering measurable financial and operational results.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across technical and business functions and translate complex commercial, technical, and project information into clear recommendations.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25–30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional supply-chain certification such as APICS, CPP, CPIM, CSCP, CPPM, or comparable certification.
  • Subject-matter expertise in data center supply markets, key suppliers, technical requirements, manufacturing capacity, and long-lead equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of the data center project lifecycle, cost drivers, market trends, and supplier ecosystem.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP platforms, web-based sourcing and purchasing tools, spend analytics, and supplier-performance reporting.
What You'll Get:

This is an opportunity to influence more than a category—you’ll help shape the supply strategy supporting EnergyLink’s growth in one of infrastructure’s most dynamic markets.

  • A seat at the table helping shape EnergyLink’s data center supply-chain strategy.
  • The opportunity to build and influence supplier strategies supporting a rapidly growing infrastructure segment.
  • Real leadership ownership—developing people, strengthening capabilities, and creating a high-performing category organization.
  • Exposure to major decisions involving supplier capacity, long-lead equipment, commercial strategy, risk, innovation, and project execution.
  • The ability to build strategic relationships across EnergyLink, Quanta operating companies, suppliers, Engineering, Construction, Estimating, Operations, and leadership.
  • The opportunity to transform market intelligence and supplier relationships into a competitive advantage for the business.
  • A role where your decisions can directly influence cost, schedule, quality, scalability, resiliency, and project success.
  • The backing and resources of EnergyLink, a Quanta Services company, with the opportunity to make your mark in a growing data center business.

Benefits That Support You

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options.
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness resources.
  • Professional development, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.
