As Communications Officer | Video & Social Media, you will report to the Head of Communications and work with FCA’s cleantech analysts, policy officers, and the communications team. We are looking for a digital content producer with strong video production skills and a demonstrated ability to create platform-native digital content, especially across YouTube and LinkedIn. Success in this role would see FCA consistently publish distinctive digital content, growing its relevant audiences, and learning systematically which formats best turn its technical expertise into content people choose to watch and share.

Responsibilities include:
Editorial Planning, Publishing and Audience Engagement – 35%
  • Maintain the editorial calendar with the Head of Communications: Content planning, drafting posts, and workflows aligned with FCA’s publications and events.
  • Draft and publish posts on priority channels, adapt content to each audience, and coordinate technical review and approval.
  • Support occasional paid promotions within agreed plans and budgets
  • Secure expert review and editorial approvals.
  • Coordinate content collaborations with colleagues and external partners, with guidance from the Head of Communications.
Video production and editing – 50%
  • Develop and produce YouTube explainers and other social videos that make FCA’s research accessible and engaging, from ideas to story outlines and scripts, interviews, filming occasionally at events and industrial sites, and editing.
  • Deliver clear audio, accurate captions, and appropriate graphics, working with FCA’s designers where needed.
  • Adapt footage into shorter pieces and use viewing data and audience feedback to improve topics, presentation and pacing.
  • Identify opportunities to repurpose FCA research, events, interviews and existing footage into platform-appropriate videos and other digital content.
  • Test new formats, hooks, titles, thumbnails and distribution approaches, using performance data.
Analysis and learning – 15%
  • Track content performance and use audience feedback and viewing data to improve future content.
  • Monitor trends on social media.

Required qualifications | Expertise

  • A strong social media video portfolio demonstrating your ability to take content from idea through filming and editing to posting.
    • Good judgment in storytelling, pacing, thumbnail design and titles, with an understanding of how these affect audience interest.
    • Editing: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent editing software, including audio editing, captioning and adapting footage for different formats.
    • Filming: Confident interviewing skills, including recording usable sound on location and helping subject-matter experts communicate clearly.
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with experts to explain technical subjects accurately.
  • Working knowledge of social publishing, community management, and basic analytics, managing deadlines in an international team.
  • A passion for FCA’s core issues, including climate, technology, and innovation.
Relevant experience may come from employment, freelance work, or independently produced projects.

Desired
  • Experience producing science, technology, or policy explainers.
  • Familiarity with paid social promotion.
  • Experience with Hootsuite, Meltwater or similar scheduling/monitoring tools.
  • Command of languages beyond English.
  • Graphic design (basic skills).

Remuneration

FCA offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with applicable allowances, including post adjustment.

Working hours | Work from home

Full-time working is preferred; an 80% arrangement may be considered with an agreed production and publishing schedule.
The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to film at FCA events, interviews, and industrial sites in Europe.

Duration of contract | Starting date

The position can be filled for two years with the intention to prolong the contract thereafter. The preferred starting date would be January 2027.
