Azure Stack Migration Engineer

Experience: 10+ Years

Important: This is a specialized hybrid infrastructure migration role. Candidates with only public Azure cloud migrations, VMware-to-Azure lift-and-shift, or general Azure administration experience without hands-on Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack Edge experience will not be considered.

Job Description:
We are looking for experienced Azure Hybrid Cloud professionals with strong hands-on expertise in Azure Stack Hub (ASH), Azure Stack Edge (ASE), Azure Local, and Azure Arc to support enterprise migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute migration initiatives from Azure Stack Hub and Azure Stack Edge to Azure and Azure Local.

• Assess customer environments, migration readiness, dependencies, risks, and technical constraints.

• Design migration strategies covering compute, storage, networking, identity, security, backup, and disaster recovery.

• Review migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and post-migration validation.

• Troubleshoot PowerShell-based migration workflows and validate automation developed by engineering teams.

• Resolve complex hybrid infrastructure issues and lead root cause analysis.

• Collaborate with Microsoft Product Engineering, Support, CSA teams, and customer stakeholders.

• Conduct technical discovery workshops and communicate migration recommendations, risks, and remediation plans.

• Develop reusable migration documentation, troubleshooting guides, and operational best practices.

Required Technical Skills:

• Hands-on production experience with Azure Stack Hub AND Azure Stack Edge.

• Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI and Azure Arc.

• Hybrid cloud connectivity and Azure networking.

• Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and AD FS in disconnected environments.

• Compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

• Strong PowerShell debugging and migration workflow validation.

• Migration readiness assessments, dependency analysis, cutover, rollback, and recovery planning.

• Excellent customer-facing communication and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Azure Stack Hub operations, including PEP/ERCS, scale units, update packages, Test-AzureStack, and Get-AzureStackLog.

• Azure Stack Edge Pro / Pro GPU deployments and troubleshooting.

• Azure Local / HCI cluster deployments and Azure Arc onboarding.

• Microsoft engineering escalations, technical root cause analysis, and enterprise migration delivery.
