Job description

Description

National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer an Exempt, Full-time, position that will lead marketing efforts that connect NFF’s national brand and priorities with conservation projects and communities across the country. The role coordinates field marketing campaigns, events, partnerships, and content capture while helping local teams strengthen storytelling, community engagement and brand consistency.

About the NFF: As the official national partner to the US Forest Service (USFS), the National Forest Foundation was chartered by Congress in 1990. Today, the NFF advances forest resiliency, healthy watersheds and wildlife habitat, and recreation for all by working with communities and organizations across the country. The Foundation has grown significantly in the last few years in programmatic impact, revenue and support, and organizational capacity. NFF leads with impact, deploying roughly 90% of its expenses towards projects and programs across the country’s 193-million-acre National Forest System. NFF is forward-thinking and innovative, with ambitious strategies and goals to advance and prepare forests for a new economy.

Position Function: The Field Marketing Senior Coordinator reports to the Field Marketing Manager and will own a portfolio of field marketing relationships and projects, making decisions about priorities, resources and the level of marketing support provided. The position leads projects from planning through evaluation, coordinates internal and external partners, manages budgets and vendors, and identifies opportunities to improve how NFF engages communities and communicates its conservation work.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Marketing Senior Coordinator will:

Brand Ambassadorship & Field Representation

  • Serve as a trusted brand steward in the field, modeling and inspiring field staff to bring NFF’s vision, mission, voice, values and identity to every community interaction
  • Coach local conservation teams on using NFF’s brand positioning and visual identity to build local credibility, community trust and partner engagement, and make sound judgment calls on how brand standards can flex for unique local situations
  • Keep an eye on brand consistency across local activations, events and communications; spot and solve issues before they become problems, escalating only unusual or sensitive matters
  • Represent NFF at local and regional events and with community partners, and prepare field staff to do the same

Conservation Team Liaison & Account Management

  • Own a portfolio of relationships with multiple local conservation project teams, serving as their primary marketing point of contact and strategic partner
  • Independently manage intake and prioritization of field marketing requests, weighing urgency, feasibility, impact and available resources to decide the right level of support, and making clear trade-offs when priorities compete
  • Set clear expectations with field teams, partners and national colleagues on roles, timelines and deliverables; work through disagreements constructively and resolve escalations
  • Keep conservation teams and the national marketing team informed with regular, clear updates on status, risks and results, and close the loop on every request

Field Marketing Activations

  • Lead local marketing activations from planning through results, scoping each one up front with clear goals, timelines, budgets and measures of success
  • Develop creative briefs with local program staff, the national marketing team and, as needed, the national advancement team, making sure every activation ties to national brand goals, campaign priorities and audience insights
  • Manage the freelancers and consultants who support activations, from selection and onboarding through day-to-day direction, feedback and performance, and oversee their agreements in line with NFF financial, procurement and grant requirements
  • Manage activation budgets, tracking spending and flagging variances early
  • Orchestrate locals earned media efforts in partnership with the national strategic communications team and PR agency, identifying story angles, shaping pitches and preparing local spokespeople
  • Measure and report engagement and impact, lead after-action reviews and harness learning to make each activation stronger than the last

Storytelling & Content

  • Proactively find and capture compelling stories, photos, video and community moments that connect local conservation impact to NFF’s national storytelling, and recommend the strongest ones for national use
  • Manage freelance photographers, videographers and other content creators from scoping to final delivery, in collaboration with the national content + creative team, making sure assets meet creative briefs, brand standards and budgets
  • Identify opportunities to shape field content plans that balance local needs with national campaign priorities
  • Build local teams’ storytelling skills through coaching and simple tools so they can tell their own stories with confidence and in a way that’s consistent with the NFF brand

Education and Qualifications: NFF expects the Field Marketing Senior Coordinator to possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Environmental Studies, a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of multiple projects and stakeholder relationships at once, including negotiating competing priorities
  • Experience managing freelancers, consultants or vendors, including scoping work, giving feedback and holding partners to deliverables and budgets
  • Experience managing project budgets and using data to measure results and guide decisions
  • Experience with content strategy and creation in a professional setting, including writing, photography, social media and video
  • Deep familiarity with brand standards and sound judgment in applying them across varied local contexts
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Abilities and Skills: NFF expects the Field Marketing Senior Coordinator to possess the following proven abilities and skills:
