Job description

API Tech Lead | REMOTE | US

Travel obsessed? Big tech fan? Hey, you’re in good company. If you want to be part of the industry that makes the world go round, then look no further.

Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings- plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, infamous long-awaited bucket list trip or that overdue school reunion. While we can’t solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we’re looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.

We’re hiring right now for an API Engineering lead for #Travelport on LinkedIn and hear from our amazing team.

How you’ll make an impact:

The team delivers platforms, APIs and services supporting shopping, booking, fulfillment, servicing and travel retailing. Working under a Technical Director, the Technical Lead acts as a trusted technology advisor, providing design governance, architecture reviews and travel domain expertise across strategic initiatives.

Your role in action:

Reviewing solution architectures, APIs, integrations and technical designs

  • Partnering with the Technical Director to guide engineering decisions
  • Applying deep travel industry knowledge across airline distribution, NDC, GDS, booking and servicing domains
  • Identifying technical risks, dependencies and scalability concerns
  • Mentoring engineers and supporting engineering excellence
  • Driving alignment with cloud, security, resiliency and operational standards
  • Supporting modernization and platform transformation initiatives
  • Collaborating with product, architecture and engineering stakeholders

Could this be you?

Someone with: experience leading technical reviews; strong travel industry domain knowledge; experience with Java, APIs, distributed systems, AWS and Kubernetes; ability to mentor engineers; strong communication and stakeholder management skills; understanding of security, scalability, resilience and software quality principles. Most of all, we want someone passionate about helping teams deliver the right solution.

Someone naturally curious, able to challenge assumptions constructively, influence without authority and partner closely with the Technical Director to shape technical direction while remaining connected to delivery teams.

As we evolve and grow as a business, so will you.

You will thrive within an inclusive and diverse workplace where you are encouraged to think differently, and have the courage, confidence & ambition to challenge what’s been done before, and be bold to win!
