H&R Block

Tax Advisory & Tax Services

H&R Block’s purpose is simple: To provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. We’ve been true to that purpose since brothers Henry and Richard Bloch founded our company in 1955. Since then, we’ve prepared approximately 800 million tax returns and grown to have approximately 12,000 offices throughout the United States and around the world. We know that tax needs and situations change from year to year. That’s why we offer new and innovative ways to prepare and file taxes so clients can choose what suits them best. We are a people company first and a tax company second. With this in mind, we deliver care in every interaction, conversation, and at each touchpoint. That’s how we build long-lasting relationships with clients, communities, and associates. People who join H&R Block say it feels like being part of something bigger. A place with an amazing and storied history, but with a strong and urgent focus on the future. Maybe it's because our company still has the feeling of ‘family’ serving as the foundation for our associates and franchisees who bring our purpose to life each day. Maybe it’s how determined, forward thinking and innovative we are, or how accessible our leadership is. We believe it’s all those things, and much more. Our ideas are rooted in unique and diverse perspectives fueled by curiosity and creativity. We’re not afraid to try new things, and never rest on past success. We are passionate in the way we advocate for each other, for our clients, and most importantly, we not only say we are better together…we truly believe it!

Job description

About the Role:

H&R Block is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape Spruce, our native mobile banking experience. You’ll design clear, trustworthy experiences that help customers confidently manage their money.

You’ll lead end-to-end design, from identifying customer problems and shaping product opportunities through prototyping, validation, implementation, and iteration. You’ll independently lead complex work, influence product direction, and help deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences across iOS and Android.

Day to day, you'll...

  • Lead end-to-end product design for complex Spruce mobile banking features and customer journeys
  • Translate customer needs, business goals, technical constraints, data, and regulatory requirements into clear product opportunities and intuitive experiences
  • Frame problems, map journeys and flows, explore concepts, prototype, validate, and deliver production-ready designs
  • Plan, conduct, and synthesize customer research and usability testing, translating insights into product and design decisions
  • Define the future of Spruce's native iOS and Android experience, ensuring every interaction is intuitive, trustworthy, accessible, and aligned with platform best practices
  • Establish scalable patterns, frameworks, and interaction standards that improve consistency across the Spruce ecosystem
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, including Figma Make, Figma MCP, and emerging technologies, to accelerate exploration, prototyping, documentation, and delivery
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Content throughout discovery, planning, implementation, testing, and release
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to meet regulatory requirements while protecting usability and customer understanding
  • Review implemented experiences for design quality, accessibility, platform consistency, and alignment with approved designs
  • Contribute to release readiness by identifying experience risks, validating critical journeys, and supporting issue triage
  • Communicate design strategy, rationale, dependencies, and risks to cross-functional partners and leadership
  • Facilitate workshops and critiques that move teams from ambiguity to aligned action
  • Champion design quality across product teams through critique, coaching, standards, and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of product-design experience, ideally designing complex mobile products or services
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, strong interaction and visual design, and meaningful customer or business outcomes
  • Experience designing native experiences for iOS and Android
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, libraries, prototyping, documentation, and developer-ready design
  • Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate exploration, prototyping, documentation, research synthesis, and design-to-development collaboration
  • Experience simplifying complex workflows and designing high-trust or high-stakes customer experiences
  • Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive-design practices
  • Experience planning or partnering on customer research and usability testing
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform, validate, and communicate design decisions
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, balancing competing constraints, and independently moving complex work forward
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Content, Analytics, Legal, Compliance, and business partners
  • Strong facilitation, storytelling, presentation, and design-rationale skills
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining focus on the broader customer journey and product strategy
  • Experience with financial services, fintech, identity, security, or another regulated environment is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
