Job description

Part-time Literacy Teacher Instructional Coach (Grades 6 - 12)

Location: Camden, NJ

ABOUT ANET

Achievement Network (ANet) is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping all students achieve strong educational outcomes. We partner with school and district leaders to strengthen instruction, implement high-quality curricula, and build systems that support great teaching for all students.

People who join ANet become part of a mission-driven, equity-centered, and collaborative team. We believe deeply in fostering a working environment where the diverse identities, lived experiences, and perspectives of our staff are valued and affirmed.

OPPORTUNITY

The Part-time Literacy Teacher Instructional Coach will have an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on adolescent literacy instruction by partnering directly with educators to strengthen teaching practices, build instructional confidence, and improve student outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced educator or instructional leader who is passionate about developing teachers, advancing equitable literacy instruction, and exploring innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Working in partnership with educators serving students in grades 6–12 in Camden, NJ, the Coach will support the implementation of high-quality, student-centered literacy instruction that strengthens reading comprehension, critical thinking, and students' ability to engage with complex, grade-level texts. Through collaborative coaching, data-informed instructional practices, and the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning, the Coach will help teachers effectively implement high-quality instructional materials, adapt to evolving curriculum needs, and develop practical strategies that strengthen student learning.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in adolescent literacy instruction, a collaborative coaching mindset, and curiosity about how emerging tools and technologies can enhance classroom instruction. We especially welcome applications from experienced classroom educators, retired teachers, former instructional coaches, and school or district leaders who are interested in continuing to make a meaningful impact through a flexible, part-time opportunity.

The Coach will report to the MD, Partner Experience and Impact, and collaborate with peer coaches to support school and district instructional improvement priorities.

This is a fixed-term W2 position anticipated to require 10–15 hours per week, with some variation based on partner needs, coaching schedules, and school calendars. While renewal is not guaranteed and depends on district partnerships and organizational needs, ANet makes every effort to identify opportunities for coaches to transition to other assignments when existing engagements conclude.

TRAVEL

This role offers a combination of meaningful, in-person engagement with educators and the flexibility of remote work. The Part-time Literacy Teacher Instructional Coach should expect to spend approximately 60–70% of their working hours on-site in Camden City schools, providing direct instructional coaching and support to teachers. The remaining time will be spent working remotely, including documenting coaching sessions, completing follow-up activities, collaborating with colleagues, and participating in internal ANet meetings.
