Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7-8, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Entry-Level Civil OSP Design Specialist to support our growing Outside Plant (OSP) programs. In this role, you will act as a vital quality gateway, performing technical reviews and QC checks on Civil OSP design packages to ensure they meet strict client and industry standards.

As our project volume increases, you will help eliminate bottlenecks by absorbing day-to-day review workloads and ensuring our deliverables are accurate, compliant, and ready for submittal. This is a hybrid position that requires high responsiveness and the ability to coordinate across multiple time zones.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & OSP Technical Review

  • Perform detailed Quality Control (QC) reviews of Civil OSP design packages, including trenching, duct banks, manholes/handholes, and utility coordination.
  • Validate that designs comply with Client-specific templates and technical documentation.
  • Cross-reference designs against local jurisdictional requirements (Municipal ROW, DOT) and national standards (NEC, NESC).
  • Identify inconsistencies or missing elements and provide clear, actionable feedback to the CAD and design teams.

Project Support & Coordination

  • Assist Project Managers in tracking design review cycles, maintaining comment logs, and meeting submittal deadlines.
  • Help integrate feedback from external stakeholders (municipalities, permitting agencies, etc.) back into the design workflow.
  • Participate in internal meetings to ensure design intent aligns with field conditions and construction requirements.

Process & Quality Improvement

  • Utilize and maintain QC checklists to ensure consistency across all project deliverables.
  • Assist in identifying recurring design errors to help improve upstream processes.
  • Leverage digital tools (Smartsheet, dashboards, and trackers) to monitor workflow efficiency and reduce manual errors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in a Technology field or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD or similar GIS/design software experience.
  • Experience in OSP design, telecommunications, or civil drafting/review.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong written communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Smartsheet.
  • Basic understanding of Civil OSP components (conduit, cabling, ROW).

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
