Job description

Pay Range:$47.69 - $67.19

The Client Virtualization Solutions Architect (CVSA) is a team-oriented, self-directed, and reliable technical professional with experience in VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) and Citrix ADC (NetScaler) Architecture, Tier 3 support for Virtual systems management, OS deployment and Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB). The role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Windows Virtual environment, including software distribution, product lifecycle management, along with providing senior level operational support. In conjunction with VDI, this role is also responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, and support of Citrix ADC for application delivery and load balancing. The role will also perform as a technical leader within the department and organization with emphasis on architecture and design of the Citrix environment. The CVSA will be the technical lead for virtualized workstreams and is responsible for understanding and defining Virtual endpoint environments in alignment with enterprise architectural plans and strategies.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Develops hosted Windows desktop infrastructure and application/load balancing environments.
  • Monitors incident response alerts, responding to those that impact the infrastructure and business operations.
    • Documents and manages work through a ticketing system and a change control processes.
    • Performs all levels of deployment, maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting.
  • Provides hardware, software, and maintenance support for Nutanix and VMWare platforms.
  • Works closely with application teams and gathers requirements from vendors to build out load balancing requirements and VDI image\application provisioning.
  • Exercises clear verbal and written communication and works with individuals at all levels of the organization, including executive level.
  • Collaborates with members of IT, business units, functional teams, field personnel, and internal/external audit functions.
  • Provides documentation of the platform production installed state (As-Is Diagram).

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Citrix certification is required
  • CCA-V minimum, CCP-V ,or CCE-V are preferred.
  • The following certifications are a plus: Microsoft Windows Server, MS Azure/Cloud, MS O365, VMWare, Cisco.

Experience Required

  • 10 or more years of proven hands-on experience engineering, implementing, and providing support for dispersed enterprise-level Nutanix and/or VMware virtualization systems providing capabilities such as hosted desktop and server virtualization.
  • 10 years of direct experience with Citrix-based solutions.
  • 7 or more years of experience designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining solutions in secure processing environments which must adhere to U.S. Healthcare regulations and guidelines.
  • 7 or more years of proven hands-on experience implementing, operating, and maintaining solutions providing virtualization, storage, data protection, and networking services to an IT enterprise information system.  Ideally, this HCI experience would be based on the Nutanix ECP.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing virtualization and storage infrastructure systems and solutions proactively for performance degradation and tuning and optimization opportunities.

Knowledge of

  • Strong background and experience with Citrix engineering concepts and principles, including architecture and deployment.
  • Strong load balancing experience
  • Experience managing Active Directory and Azure
  • Windows Server administration
  • Ability to manage group policies
  • DNS experience
  • Strong networking skills and IT infrastructure knowledge

Skills in

  • Excellent skills with ADC (NetScaler) and virtual desktop. Ideal candidate will be aligned to about 40% in the ADC, load balancing space / 60% in the virtual apps and desktop space with Citrix.
  • Advanced computer systems administration and automation skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills; skilled in facilitation, presentation, and negotiation.

Ability to

  • Ability to communicate, teach, collaborate, and train others (e.g., System Administrators, Information Security, Technical Support staff) on technical decisions, implementations, projects, and roadmaps.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Ability to abstract key information to empower good decision making by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
