Job Details


The Senior Software Engineer performs innovative software development, data engineering, and product support. This position works collaboratively with a Scrum team to take requirements through the development lifecycle and transform them into high quality, valuable deliverables. The Senior Engineer will harmonize and collaboratively work with other team members and stakeholders to deliver cutting-edge technologies. They will have a strong command of our key technologies and concepts including Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, SQL, Databricks, Docker, AWS, and object-oriented development.


Responsibilities

  • Work in an Agile development environment; actively participate in and contribute to all Scrum ceremonies.
  • Collaborate on design, development, and delivery of software solutions per requirements and committed schedules.
  • Test, debug and add enhancements to existing applications.
  • Contribute to code reviews.
  • Analyze and research software requirements associated to identified user stories and epics.
  • Resolve customer complaints with software and respond to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements.
  • Learn new technologies and resolve challenges involved with integrating them with our Cloud and product infrastructure.
  • Proactively raise problems to senior developers and help identify solutions.
  • Communicate updates, changes, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Embody AnewHealth’s Core Values in all communications and interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or 5+ years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4+ years of software development experience with modern programming languages and concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering customer value at a rapid pace, while maintaining a high level of software quality.
  • Experience with modern programming languages and object-oriented development concepts, including Python, Java, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience with Databricks and modern data engineering platforms, including data ingestion, transformation, integration, processing, and support of data pipelines across multiple data sources and systems.
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience, including MySQL, query optimization, performance tuning, and execution-plan analysis.
  • Experience developing software applications and services that integrate with data platforms, APIs, databases, and other enterprise systems, including React or other modern web application frameworks.
  • Experience developing and operating cloud-based solutions, with strong AWS experience across application development, data engineering, storage, compute, security, monitoring, and deployment; Azure experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker, containerized application development, and modern source control, CI/CD, and software delivery practices.
  • Experience working within and enhancing large, mature production codebases, including troubleshooting issues across applications, data pipelines, integrations, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Experience translating business and functional requirements into technical designs and actionable engineering work.
  • Experience with instrumentation, monitoring, analytics, and performance measurement.
  • Experience with authentication, authorization, secure application development, and software handling sensitive or regulated data; healthcare and HIPAA experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Medicare risk adjustment, CMS data, or related healthcare payment models is a plus.
  • Experience with agile methodology is a plus (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.) preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with common development tools (e.g., Git, Jira, etc.) and processes (e.g., code review, QA, continuous integration, and deployments).
  • Ability to take ownership for deliverables and assigned tasks from requirements through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements, contribute to application, data, and system design decisions, and translate requirements into implementation approaches and discrete engineering work.
  • Ability to work across applications, data pipelines, integrations, databases, and cloud infrastructure as part of a larger solution.
  • Ability to evaluate technical approaches, identify dependencies and risks, and communicate tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Awareness, execution, and improvement of relevant team standards and engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, and passionate about building scalable, maintainable, and high-quality software.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across application and data-engineering environments.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with engineers, product owners, architects, and business stakeholders, and independently as needed.

Schedule:  This is a full-time position with an expectation to work an average of 40 hours per week and be available outside of normal business hours to meet customer expectations on an ad-hoc basis. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.


Travel:  Travel may be required for special organization or department events, department team meetings, trade shows, conferences, and other client engagements.
