Role Summary

The Associate Director, Communications Insights & Analytics turns measurement frameworks, dashboards, and AI-enabled analytics into the insights, foresight, and evidence-based recommendations the function relies on to make sharper decisions. It's a rare opportunity to put data to work for a purpose-driven company focused on making life better — helping Lilly understand what's resonating with the people it serves.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Communications Intelligence, the Associate Director runs the measurement program day to day — conducting the analyses, building the dashboards, and producing the executive-ready insights across messaging, channels, audience engagement, and reputation.

Operating at the intersection of creativity and analytics, this is a hands-on role for an analyst and builder who pairs deep analytical rigor with a storyteller's instinct for what the data means and why it matters — running the measurement program, surfacing insights, and using AI tools for automated reporting and analysis.

Key Objectives / Deliverables

  • Operationalize measurement strategies, key metric frameworks, and reporting standards across Global Communications, ensuring consistent, high-quality execution against established governance.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards and data systems (for example, Meltwater) that deliver actionable intelligence for strategy creation, content development, and performance measurement.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis across, channels, audiences and reputation, translating performance data into clear recommendations that optimize creative output.
  • Support advanced signal detection and predictive analytics (such as anomaly detection and trend forecasting) to surface emerging issues, crises, and trends before they intensify.
  • Apply AI driven tools and platforms to modernize analytical workflows, capture efficiencies, and enhance creative capabilities—serving as a hands-on power user and internal champion for adoption.
  • Produce executive-ready insights, reports, and narratives that inform strategy and drive understanding of key audiences—who we need to reach, where they are, what they trust, and how to engage them.
  • Partner with the Marketing social media team on shared listening and analytics, and collaborate with enterprise analytics partners such as Business Insights & Analytics and Market Research teams.
  • Strengthen data literacy across the function, ensuring insights drive decisions across all communications functions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Data Science, Statistics, or Business Analytics
  • 7 years of experience in communications, marketing, or business intelligence, with a strong focus on data analytics, measurement, and insights, ideally within a global, matrixed organization; pharma, healthcare, or other regulated industry experience is a plus.

Additional Skills / Preferences

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining dashboards, measurement programs, and reporting systems that connect communications activities to business outcomes and stakeholder behavior.
  • Working expertise in audience intelligence, reputational insights, and trust data, with the ability to translate these into practical guidance for strategy and content.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and platforms for data analysis, trend forecasting, and workflow optimization, with a clear understanding of their application in a communications context.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Meltwater (or equivalent – Talkwalker or Cision), Quid, Morning Consult Intelligence.
  • Experience working with global, multi-market teams and an awareness of how regional context shapes audience and reputational data.
  • Strong collaboration skills to build relationships across functions and partner effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and compelling narratives for senior audiences.
