Job description

This January, Synchrony will host a Technology Winternship program for currently enrolled Norwalk, Housatonic, and Fairfield Bellarmine Community College students. This is an exciting program that offers students the opportunity to learn about Synchrony, the basics of a career in Technology/Computer Science, and a view of what Synchrony does in the consumer financing marketplace.

Through the Winternship, you will get a crash course on insights into a career in technology/computer science through engaging panels and networking events with top leaders at Synchrony, as well as insights into the different roles that exist within the organization. You will also work with your peers to prepare and present case studies to our teams.

As a program participant, you will receive:

  • A resume-worthy experience that is transformational for students and provides an introduction to Synchrony and the Technology/Computer Science field
  • Exposure and access to senior leadership within Synchrony’s technology organization
  • Winternship is a paid, three-week mini-internship experience during the January academic recess, geared towards first- and second-year students and meant to serve as a student’s “first foot in the door.”
  • The core components include:
    • 1) a group challenge project and
    • 2) an immersive, cohort-based experience in which students are exposed to multiple aspects of the company outside of their project and team

Program Details

  • Monday, January 4 – Friday, January 22
  • 3-week mini-internship during the January 2027 academic recess at Fairfield Bellarmine, CTSU Housatonic and CTSU Norwalk campuses, geared towards first- and second-year students and meant to serve as a student’s first foot in the door at Synchrony. Targeted to students that have interest in technology/computer science majors.
  • Synchrony will provide competitive compensation during the program
  • This application will close on October 16th
  • Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis
  • Successful candidates will be invited to interview for future Synchrony opportunities

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled Fairfield Bellarmine, Norwalk or Housatonic Community College student as of Fall semester 2026 in any major

Desired Characteristics:

  • CTSU Housatonic and Norwalk campuses as well as Fairfield Bellarmine current students.  Ideally, 2nd year with Computer Science focus
  • Passion and aptitude for technology
  • Inquisitive and willingness to learn

  • You are a currently enrolled CTSU Housatonic / Norwalk, or Fairfield Bellarmine student as of Fall semester 2026 in a technology focused curriculum

Our Way of Working:

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events. 

*Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
