Job description

Position Summary 

The IT Data Manager is responsible for leading the organization's enterprise data, integration, and business intelligence capabilities. This role oversees data architecture, data pipelines, integrations, Power BI governance, data quality, and analytics solutions that provide reliable and actionable information to business leaders. 

The IT Data Manager partners with Finance, HR, Sales, Operations, Marketing, and other business functions to translate business requirements into scalable data and reporting solutions. The role also provides technical direction to data engineering and BI resources and establishes standards for the enterprise data environment.  

Key Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the strategy, architecture, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data and analytics environment. 
  • Own governance of the Power BI environment, including workspaces, datasets, reports, standards, ownership, security, and lifecycle management. 
  • Design and oversee data pipelines and integrations connecting enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and cloud data platforms. 
  • Establish standards for data quality, validation, reconciliation, transformation, and reporting accuracy. 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting requirements, dashboards, and analytical solutions. 
  • Consolidate and standardize enterprise reporting to reduce duplicate, outdated, or conflicting reports. 
  • Provide technical direction to data engineers, BI developers, analysts, contractors, and other data resources. 
  • Review and validate data models, pipelines, transformations, business rules, and reporting outputs. 
  • Improve automation and reduce manual data collection, manipulation, and reporting processes. 
  • Establish documentation, monitoring, support, and ownership standards for critical data pipelines and reporting solutions. 
  • Promote trusted, standardized enterprise data that enables effective operational and strategic decision-making. 
  • Current initiatives include integrations and analytics involving UKG, Adaptive Insights, CRM, Great Plains, PowerDB, Azure Synapse, and Power BI. 

Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, application development, or related technology roles. 
  • Strong experience with SQL, enterprise data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling. 
  • Experience developing and supporting APIs and automated data pipelines. 
  • Strong experience with Power BI or comparable enterprise BI platforms. 
  • Experience with cloud-based data and analytics technologies. 
  • Strong understanding of data governance, quality, security, and reporting practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. 
  • Preferred Technical Skills: Microsoft Azure • Azure Synapse Analytics • Data Lake/Lakehouse • Power BI • SQL Server • Python • SSRS • REST APIs • ETL/ELT • Data Modeling • Data Governance • ERP/CRM Integration • AI-assisted analytics and development
