Description:
The Market Medical Director is a key clinical leadership role responsible for partnering with the Market President to lead the market team, oversee Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, and provide direct care to a small panel of high-risk patients. This leader will support care across home, community, dialysis, and hospital settings while ensuring timely patient access, accurate clinical documentation, strong provider performance, and reduced unnecessary medical utilization.

The role also includes coaching and developing APPs, evaluating clinical competencies, reinforcing evidence-based treatment practices, and using population health principles, KPIs, and clinical data to improve patient outcomes, quality, and cost of care.

  • Upskill Advanced Practice Providers through high-intensity provider coaching based on KPI performance.
  • Provide direct patient care to a small panel of high-risk patients.
  • Manage the highest-need, highest-risk patients through short-interval follow-up to stabilize their conditions before transitioning them to APP panels when appropriate.
  • Support timely access to care for new patients.
  • Help ensure clinical documentation is thorough and accurate.
  • Coach clinical team members to strengthen problem-solving skills and reduce unnecessary medical utilization.
  • Provide ongoing education and evaluation of APP competencies, including diagnostic skills, evidence-based treatment protocols, and treatment capabilities.
  • Teach and reinforce the fundamentals of population health management.
  • Lead health plan and network provider partnership discussions.
  • Drive relationship management with partners to support key business results, including growth targets, partner engagement, and clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Support board material content and creation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You Will Be Successful If:

  • You are comfortable providing both clinical leadership and direct patient care.
  • You can effectively coach and develop Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and physicians.
  • You use KPIs and data to improve cost, quality, and clinical outcomes.
  • You can manage high-risk and high-need patient populations and transition stabilized patients to appropriate care teams.
  • You can build productive relationships with health plans, network providers, and other partners.
  • You are comfortable working in an environment with ambiguity.
  • You are focused on driving healthcare outcomes rather than volume.

What You Will Bring:

  • Must reside in Florida.
  • M.D. or D.O. graduate.
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine required.
  • 5-15 years of experience in outpatient or home-based practices.
  • Extensive experience in clinical leadership roles coaching and developing Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or physicians.
  • Experience utilizing KPIs and data to drive improved cost, quality, and clinical outcomes for patients.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Value-based care experience.
  • Fellowship training in Geriatrics.
  • Additional professional degrees such as an MPH, MBA, or JD.
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
