Job Description

The Operations Mortgage Trainer will support the Longbridge Financial training and education program for Operations team members. Reporting to the Director of Training, this is primarily a remote position responsible for executing the company’s training and education program for Operations team members, with periodic on-site travel for in-person sessions as needed per company travel policy.

The Operations Mortgage Trainer improves employee performance by identifying learning needs, developing training solutions, creating training materials based on adult learning models, and delivering effective instruction so Operations team members have the knowledge and skills to perform their roles successfully. The role develops and delivers onboarding, loan processing systems, refresher, product, process, compliance, and soft-skills training across the organization.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs for Operations team members, covering onboarding, process, systems, product, and compliance training.
  • Facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training sessions that support knowledge retention, skill development, and performance improvement.
  • Manage new hire onboarding programs and training schedules so employees reach required proficiency levels within established timelines.
  • Support change management efforts by developing and delivering training for new products, processes, technologies, and operational initiatives.

Needs Assessment & Partnership

  • Partner with Operations leadership, the Head of Operations, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify training needs and learning gaps and translate business requirements into learning solutions.
  • Conduct training needs analyses and provide targeted coaching, refresher training, and performance support to address knowledge gaps.
  • Hold regularly scheduled meetings with Operations senior leaders to align training priorities with business needs.

Content Development & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain training materials, including job aids, process guides, presentations, eLearning modules, knowledge assessments, and instructional videos.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing training content; analyze outdated material and process trends to prepare refresher courses as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of company products, systems, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements so training content stays accurate and current.

Training Effectiveness & Reporting

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, observations, feedback, and performance metrics, and use the results to continuously improve programs.
  • Track training participation, completion, and performance data using the learning management system (LMS) and other reporting tools.
  • Increase the competency and productivity of experienced Operations professionals through group and individual training interventions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or an equivalent combination of learning and development certification, education, and experience.
  • 3+ years of training and/or education experience.
  • At least two years of experience in the mortgage industry; reverse mortgage experience preferred; direct experience with loan processing desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced training programs.
  • Experience creating job aids, process guides, presentations, eLearning content, assessments, and reference documentation.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and a wide variety of training techniques and technologies.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and subject matter experts to develop and maintain training curricula.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage products, loan origination processes, operational workflows, systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage compliance regulations, including RESPA, TILA/TRID, and HECM guidelines, as they apply to training content.
  • Familiarity with loan origination and servicing systems such as QR, MeridianLink, ICE, LoanBridge, Salesforce, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems and eLearning development tools such as Articulate 360, Scribe, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to analyze training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, quality reviews, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under time constraints and manage multiple projects.
  • Core skills: training delivery and facilitation, curriculum development, coaching and mentoring, presentation skills, data analysis and reporting, relationship management and problem-solving, adaptability, organization, time management, attention to detail, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, manuals, policies, and regulations.
  • Above average oral and written communication skills, customer service, and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of PC applications (Word, Excel, MS Outlook)
