Job description

Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. Guided by our mission to make the world’s health data secure, accessible and actionable, we provide critical data solutions for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem - including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. From fulfilling a single patient’s request for their medical records to powering the AI revolution in healthcare, Datavanters are building the future of how data is connected and used to improve health.

By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a driven and highly collaborative team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare.

We’re looking for an Accounting Manager reporting to our Senior Accounting Manager to oversee assigned areas of the general ledger and support an accurate, timely, and well-controlled close process. This hands-on role combines accounting ownership, review of key deliverables, and coordination across teams. You will partner closely with the Senior Accounting Manager to resolve accounting issues, strengthen internal controls, and improve processes as Datavant continues to grow. Specific areas of responsibility will evolve based on business needs and team priorities.

You will:

  • Manage assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion in accordance with accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules, ensuring appropriate documentation and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Review account activity and fluctuations, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate with business partners to resolve accounting issues.
  • Partner with the Senior Accounting Manager to establish priorities, coordinate deliverables, and proactively communicate risks, resource needs, and close-related issues.
  • Provide guidance and review support to accounting team members, promoting accountability, knowledge sharing, and high-quality work.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls, following initiatives through completion.
  • Collaborate with the Controllership team and cross-functional partners on financial reporting, audit requests, system implementations, and other projects.
  • Support M&A integration activities, including aligning accounting processes, reconciling balances, and transitioning close responsibilities.

What you will bring to the table:

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger accounting and month-end close.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, including SOX requirements.
  • Experience reviewing accounting deliverables and leading close activities, projects, or team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, multi-entity environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to resolve issues independently and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain high-quality work.
  • Clear, effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across functions.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership of both recurring responsibilities and new initiatives.
  • Sound judgment, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • CPA strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Google Workspace, and FloQast preferred.
