  • Utilizes all aspects of computerized and non-computerized 'OR Management' scheduling systems to coordinate formation of the daily surgical case scheduling.

Schedule: Full Time Remote, 40 Hours Weekly - Monday to Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Description

A Day in the Life 

  • Handles all future scheduling for the OR schedule including telephone requests, faxes and scheduling slips. 
  • Takes verbal add-on cases for current day, ascertaining all pertinent patient data.  
  • Communicates add-on cases and/or cancellations to O.R. coordinator and all other appropriate areas.   
  • Utilizes all aspects of computerized and non-computerized “OR Management” scheduling systems to coordinate formation of the daily surgical case scheduling. 
  • Is knowledgeable of the block scheduling system rules and regulations and is able to utilize that system to enter surgical cases accordingly. 
  • Coordinates the order of surgical cases taking into consideration shared resources, personnel availability, surgeon preferences. 
  • Communicates confirmation numbers of scheduled cases to physicians' office staff using right fax. 
  • Notifies surgeons/offices of their surgery times for the next day’s procedures. 
  • Notifies Inventory Control Specialist of all specialty items needed for boarded procedures. 
  • Communicates daily with O.R. coordinators/O.R. Manager and Anesthesia about problems/conflicts/ special requests. 
  • Responsible to access department communications daily utilizing telephone voicemail and/or e-mail. 

Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in MS Word with knowledge of Windows based applications and possess a proven ability to effectively use multiple computer systems. 
  • Previous Operating Room scheduling or unit clerk experience desired.

This is a remote position and the candidate must live in the state of Michigan!
