Purpose of the Triage Desk:

From mid-October through the week following Election Day, the Triage Desk will provide additional capacity to All Voting is Local's state teams during the highest-volume portion of the election cycle. This is a temporary role that will last for one month: October 13 - November 13, 2026.

The Desk exists to help identify, organize, route, and track emerging needs so State Directors can remain focused on executing their state strategies.

Requirements:

  • Participate in virtual boiler room operations between October 13 - October 30 and November 8 - November 13.
  • Attend and participate in an in-person boiler room in Washington, D.C., starting on Sunday, 11/1 and ending on Saturday, 11/7.
    • For candidates who are not local to D.C., travel and accommodations will be covered by All Voting.
Compensation:
  • $2,200 per week from October 13 - October 30 and November 8 - November 13 (virtual boiler room)
  • $3,200 for the week of November 1-7 (in-person boiler room)

Core Responsibilities:

The Triage Desk is not a parallel strategy team and does not replace the judgment or decision-making authority of State Directors. Consultants should approach this role first as listeners and problem-solvers: understand what is happening, determine what support is needed, and help connect the right people and resources.
  1. Monitor and identify emerging needs by staying in regular communication with assigned states and maintain awareness of emerging election administration issues, threats, partner needs, and opportunities.
    1. The goal is not simply to collect information, but to identify: What is happening? Does it require action? Who needs to know? What support does the state need?
    2. Help distinguish between:
      1. Issues the state team can handle directly;
      2. Requests that require national All Voting capacity;
      3. Issues requiring compliance, communications, research/data, or other specialized support;
      4. Significant developments that need to be elevated to organizational leadership.
  2. Track issues
    1. Maintain visibility into significant requests and emerging issues.
    2. For items requiring follow-up: What is the issue, who owns the next step, what is the deadline, has it been resolved?
    3. Surface patterns across states flag when similar issues are emerging in multiple states. What looks isolated in one state may represent a broader pattern requiring national attention or coordination.
  3. Immediately elevate issues that may:
    1. create substantial legal or operational risk;
    2. require rapid communications or organizational response;
    3. represent a significant escalation in election threats or interference;
    4. require resources or decisions beyond the State Director's authority; or have implications beyond the individual state.
