A fast-growing healthcare AI scale-up building an AI medical scribe and integration ecosystem for Latin America. The company works directly with hospitals and healthcare providers across the region, processing high-volume clinical data and integrating with existing hospital IT infrastructure.

About the role

This role designs and builds the core data platform from scratch: a lakehouse that ingests high-volume events, processes them into FHIR standards, and serves both external hospital clients and internal analytics. The person in this role will own the architecture, work directly with hospital IT teams to gather requirements, and ship production code handling millions of records.

Responsibilities

- Design and build a high-volume event-driven data platform from scratch

- Ingest and process millions of events into a lakehouse architecture

- Transform and standardize clinical data into FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) format

- Build and maintain PostgreSQL and MongoDB systems at scale

- Work directly with external hospital IT teams to gather technical requirements and integrate with legacy infrastructure

- Build developer-facing public APIs for external clients

- Own the full stack from event ingestion through serving data to external clients and internal analytics

- Use AI coding tools daily to accelerate development

Requirements

- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, currently operating as an individual contributor shipping production code

- Proven experience designing and building high-volume event-driven architectures or event bus patterns

- Production experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale (handling millions of records)

- Professional-level fluency in both Portuguese and English

- Experience with large-scale, heavy data systems in production

- Based in Latin America (or exceptional cases in Europe with willingness to work LATAM hours and travel occasionally)

- Not recently transitioned into pure management or director roles; must be a hands-on IC
