The Murdoch’s story is one of humble beginnings. It is a story about a man, a belief and the understanding that value is often found in honest, old-fashioned ideas. The vision behind Murdoch’s included three simple principles: carry lots of down-to-earth merchandise; be a place where the whole family likes to visit; and be a place where the customer is always met with thanks. Murdoch’s is proud to have 40 stores spanning Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming. Our family of stores is staffed with more than 2,200 dedicated team members - all friendly, knowledgeable folks who are there to help! At Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply, we’re downright proud of the mark we’ve made with our authentic western brand. Along with our industry-leading suppliers and manufacturers, Murdoch’s represents real lives with real stories. We know that our customers depend on us for quality merchandise and a square deal. We’re not big on bells and whistles; however, we do carry both in our stores! Be it a stock tank, dog food, or a pair of cozy socks, one thing is for certain: the trusted brands we carry all measure up to the Murdoch’s name in durability, style, outstanding service and value. We’re big on doing the basics right. We know the value of a hard day’s work, a positive attitude and doing the right thing (even when no one is looking). Above all, we know how to have fun while we’re doing it! Our aim is to earn the trust and loyalty of our customers and to maintain the premium standards of our distinctive western brand.

Job description

Description

The Manager of Marketing Intelligence & Analytics builds the intelligence, measurement, and analytical capabilities that enable Murdoch’s to make better customer, marketing, and business decisions. The role connects customer, market, competitive, media, transactional, channel, and behavioral data to actionable insights that strengthen customer relationships, increase store traffic, improve marketing effectiveness, and drive profitable growth.

This leader moves the organization beyond activity and channel reporting toward a disciplined understanding of incrementality, customer behavior, brand health, market opportunity, and business impact—turning complex information into clear recommendations for leaders across the organization.

Remote Work Available in the Following States: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, MT, MO, NE, NV, NC, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WY.

As a Murdoch’s Team Member in this role, you will …

Customer Intelligence & Insights

  • Build a comprehensive view of Murdoch’s customers—who they are, how they shop, what they value, and how their relationship with Murdoch’s changes over time.
  • Develop customer segmentation, profiles, lifecycle insights, and Voice of the Customer capabilities using behavioral, transactional, demographic, geographic, attitudinal, and qualitative data.
  • Partner with Customer & Channel Marketing to improve acquisition, frequency, retention, cross-category shopping, lifetime value, and loyalty; identify high-value and emerging customer opportunities.

Marketing Measurement & Effectiveness

  • Establish the enterprise framework for marketing performance, shifting measurement from impressions, clicks, and ROAS toward incremental store traffic and revenue, new-customer acquisition, lifetime value, frequency, retention, market share, and brand preference.
  • Advance attribution and incrementality capabilities, including Media Mix Modeling, incrementality and geographic testing, holdout/control testing, store visitation, customer-level analysis, and campaign/promotional effectiveness.
  • Partner with Finance to create a shared understanding of marketing investment, productivity, and return.

Brand, Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Own Murdoch’s brand health and consumer insights program, establishing longitudinal benchmarks across awareness, familiarity, consideration, preference, purchase, loyalty, and advocacy.
  • Measure customer perceptions and key preference drivers versus competitors; maintain a Brand Health Scorecard and Brand Strength Index and evaluate brand campaign impact.
  • Monitor customer behavior, category trends, competitive positioning, pricing/promotions, messaging, economic conditions, population shifts, and digital/eCommerce capabilities; translate opportunities and threats into recommendations.

Trade Area & Local Market Analytics

  • Analyze store trade areas and performance relative to customer density, household characteristics, competitive presence, category demand, media investment, and market potential.
  • Identify growth, underpenetrated, competitive, and mature markets; recommend where incremental marketing investment can produce store traffic, revenue, and local market share.
  • Support new-store planning through market sizing, customer profiling, competitive analysis, and post-opening performance measurement.

Forecasting, Data & Measurement Infrastructure

  • Build predictive capabilities for customer lifetime value, churn/retention, purchase propensity, category affinity, acquisition, store traffic, promotional response, market potential, media investment, and demand.
  • Move the organization from descriptive to diagnostic to predictive to prescriptive intelligence, embedding insights into planning and decision-making.
  • Partner with IT, eCommerce, Finance, and external partners on CRM/CDP, marketing automation, web/app analytics, media and store-visitation measurement, attribution, BI, visualization, identity resolution, and MMM.
  • Maintain high standards for data quality, governance, consistency, and measurement methodology, organizing data around meaningful business questions rather than more reporting.

Executive Reporting & Storytelling

  • Create executive dashboards and scorecards focused on the metrics that matter most; translate complex analyses into simple, actionable narratives.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional partners, ensuring analytics leads to decisions and action
Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in customer segmentation, lifecycle analytics, lifetime value, large customer/transactional datasets, brand tracking, consumer research, and customer insights.
  • Experience with attribution, experimentation, incrementality testing, and ideally Media Mix Modeling; strong understanding of store traffic, retail performance, customer behavior, and local market dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of CRM, CDP, BI, analytics, and marketing technology platforms; experience managing analytical partners, research vendors, and measurement providers.
  • Strong financial/commercial acumen with exceptional ability to translate complex analysis into clear business recommendations and executive presentations.
