Job description

Harbor is seeking a Community Prevention Team Lead to join the Toledo team! This position is responsible for the coordination of our School-Based Prevention services and our Older Adult Prevention services, and other Prevention services assigned. The Team Lead of Prevention Services ensures team fidelity of prevention standards, outcome documentation, and program scheduling.

Position is full time, 40 hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS 

Education:  

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related mental health field. 

Experience:  

  • Experience in prevention education. 
  • Proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft 365, Word, and Excel.  
  • Proficient in internet use for web-based reporting. 

Licensure and Certifications:  

  • Certified as a Prevention Specialist in the state of Ohio. 
  • Must maintain active licensure in good standing. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Background in mental health, social work, psychology, or other related field. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities: 

  1. Provides Prevention Education to Lucas County in classrooms, groups, as follows: 
    1. Psychoeducational Prevention Education Groups 
    2. Classroom Prevention Education Presentations 
    3. Structured Prevention Education Activities 
    4. Family Prevention Education Sessions 
  2. Provides referral options to clients exhibiting signs and symptoms of an alcohol or other drug problem. Work with parent/guardian for most appropriate referral. 
  3. Provides Prevention Education and alcohol and other drug information to parents/guardians of our client population. 
  4. Provides appropriate documentation of occurrences through the web-based system of individual or group Prevention Service customers.  
  5. Assist in development, innovation and implementation of prevention programs. 
  6. Assist with RFP/grant writing. 
  7. Be responsible for data collection. 
  8. Utilizes the web-based system for documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor. 
  9. In providing  services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.  
  10. Develops programming in the area of Prevention and procedures for dealing with alcohol and other drug use and abuse by our client population. 
  11. Assists in department/agency committees, activities and projects and develops and maintains appropriate relationships with staff members. 
  12. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth.

Working Conditions:  

  • This position involves both office-based and community-based work. The employee is required to work onsite during regular business hours and conduct community fieldwork as needed to support programs, outreach, and partnerships. Remote or work-from-home options are not available. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support community events, trainings, and prevention initiatives. 
  • Regular travel within the service area is required to support program activities, community engagement, and field-based work. Use of a personal vehicle is required, with mileage reimbursed in accordance with agency policy. 
  • This position involves routine access to confidential and sensitive client information. The employee must strictly maintain confidentiality and ensure all records, documentation, and materials are securely handled, stored, and transported in compliance with agency policies and applicable privacy regulations. Protection of client information is mandatory. 
  • Due to the nature of prevention and community-based work, this position may involve interaction with individuals experiencing behavioral, emotional, or crisis-related situations. Employees are expected to respond professionally and in a trauma-informed manner while adhering to agency protocols and safety procedures. 
  • This position is union. Union eligibility applies only to full-time or part-time hires; contingent or temporary appointments are not covered by the union, even if the position is otherwise unionized.
