Role Purpose

As the Vice President, Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) you are responsible for setting the strategic direction and providing executive leadership for HSSE performance across bp's U.S. Convenience & Mobility business. This role serves as the senior HS&E leader for a large, geographically dispersed operation encompassing company-owned retail sites, franchise locations, bakery operations, field teams, offices, and support functions across the United States.

The Vice President is accountable for developing and delivering an integrated HS&E strategy that protects people, communities, assets, brand reputation, and business performance while enabling sustainable growth. The role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and bp standards while fostering a culture where safety, risk management, operational rigor, and environmental stewardship are embedded into every aspect of the business.

Partnering closely with executive leadership, operations teams, franchise partners, and bp's central HS&E organization, the Vice President will establish enterprise-wide standards, strengthen risk management capabilities, drive continuous improvement, and ensure consistent execution of HS&E programs across a network supporting thousands of employees, contractors, customers, and business partners.

This leader will provide oversight for operational risk management, process safety, occupational safety, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness and response, incident prevention, regulatory engagement, and business resilience. The role plays a critical part in enabling safe and reliable operations while supporting commercial performance, transformation initiatives, network growth, and long-term value creation.

The Vice President will serve as a trusted advisor to bp’s US Convenience & Mobility leadership team, ensuring HS&E risks are identified, understood, and managed effectively while driving a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Key Accountabilities

• Own the USCM Health, Safety & Environmental strategy and operating plan, ensuring risks across sites, fueling operations and store environments are identified, managed and mitigated.
• Serve as the senior advisor to the USCM leadership on health, safety, environmental, security, and operational risk matters.
• Lead the USCM HSSE team, setting clear priorities, performance expectations and accountability for safety and environmental outcomes across the network.
• Maintain a strong dotted-line relationship with bp's central HSSE function to ensure USCM continues to apply enterprise standards, tools and governance expectations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local health, safety and environmental regulations, including DOT, OSHA and EPA requirements, across USCM's store and fueling network.
• Partner with Operations, Construction & Maintenance and Store Support teams to embed safety and environmental considerations into site design, store operations and field execution.
• Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action processes, translating lessons learned into practical improvements at store level.
• Provide regular reporting on safety performance, environmental compliance and emerging risks to the USCM CEO and leadership team.

Skills & Experience

• Significant experience in health, safety, environmental or risk management leadership, ideally within convenience retail, fuel retail, grocery or another multi-site operating environment.
• Strong understanding of HSSE regulatory requirements applicable to retail fueling and convenience store operations, including DOT, OSHA and EPA standards.
• Experience leading HSSE teams and building a hands-on, field-credible safety culture across a distributed, multi-site network.
• Proven ability to work across matrixed reporting lines while maintaining clear accountability and independence of judgement.
• Strong incident investigation, risk assessment and corrective action experience.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Who you will work with

You'll work with bp's central HSSE function, Operations, Construction & Maintenance, Store Support Organizations, and Legal/Compliance. This role reports to the USCM CEO, with a dotted line into bp's central HSSE function.
