Medical Economics Intern (Undergraduate - Summer 2027)

Position Purpose: Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is fully remote within the U.S.

• Analyze healthcare provider, claims, utilization, and third-party data to identify performance trends, cost-of-care opportunities, and potential payment or contract deviations

• Interpret measure definitions and methodologies related to provider performance, medical procedures, diagnoses, and utilization patterns

• Develop and recommend KPIs, performance metrics, trend analyses, and dashboard concepts that provide actionable business insights

• Support provider contract repricing analysis by comparing contracted claim payments with Medicare, Medicaid, state, or CMS benchmarks

• Assist with the design, testing, and enhancement of PowerBi dashboards

• Prepare and present project updates, analytical findings, and recommendations to leadership
• Learn various job functions within the Managed Care industry and explore various career opportunities
• Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects
• Research various legal, regulatory, and other topics within functional area and industry
  
• Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
• Complies with all policies and standards

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college, preferably in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period. Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or R. Knowledge of statistical, analytical, or data mining techniques including basic data modeling, trend analysis, and root-cause analysis preferred. Preferred knowledge of modern business intelligence and visualization tools.

Pay Range: $18-26/hour
