Chief of Staff to the Chief Strategy Officer

Thank you for considering Oklo. We are hiring a Chief of Staff to help the Chief Strategy Officer operate with focus and execute key initiatives.

Position Description

Oklo is seeking a Chief of Staff to increase the Chief Strategy Officer’s leverage in pursuing Oklo’s strategy agenda. This is a mid-career role for a strong operator who can organize priorities, prep the CSO for decisions and engagements, coordinate across teams, make delegated decisions, and ensure commitments do not get lost.

You will work closely with the Head of Strategy and leaders across Strategy, Finance, Corporate Development, Legal, Government Affairs, Communications, and the business units. You will bring structure and judgment to the CSO's office while staying close enough to the substance to help move important work forward.

Success in this role will be measured by how effectively the CSO and the surrounding team operate: whether the right issues receive attention, decisions are well prepared, information moves clearly, and follow-through is reliable.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Maintain the CSO's operating rhythm. Organize weekly priorities, decision points, recurring reviews, and preparation needs so the CSO can focus attention on the highest-value work.
• Triage and organize incoming requests. Gather context, assess urgency and strategic relevance, recommend the appropriate owner or path, and surface items that require the CSO's judgment.
• Prepare decisions and engagements. Develop concise briefs, agendas, objectives, questions, options, and follow-up plans in partnership with the Strategy team and relevant functional experts.
• Drive follow-through. Capture decisions and commitments, clarify owners and timelines, track progress, and bring forward stalled items or unresolved tradeoffs.
• Coordinate priority workstreams. Build practical work plans, organize contributors, maintain visibility into dependencies, and help teams reach the next decision or deliverable.
• Synthesize information for leadership. Turn complex updates into concise summaries that highlight decisions, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended next steps.
• Support selected special projects. Contribute research, analysis, drafting, planning, and project management where direct support from the CSO's office is useful.
• Improve office and team systems. Strengthen planning cadences, dashboards, document routines, meeting practices, and information flow without adding unnecessary process.
• Partner closely with the Executive Assistant. Align calendar priorities, meeting objectives, travel, preparation, and follow up so the CSO's time is used intentionally.

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant mid-career experience. Typically three to five years of experience in strategy, business operations, program or project management, consulting, an executive office, or a comparable role.
• Strong execution discipline. Demonstrated ability to organize complex work, coordinate contributors, manage competing deadlines, and close loops reliably.
• Business and strategic judgment. Ability to understand substantive business questions, identify what matters, and distinguish a decision from a status update.
• Clear communication. Excellent writing and synthesis, including the ability to prepare concise briefs, agendas, decision materials, and executive-ready follow-up.
• Discretion and interpersonal judgment. The maturity to work with sensitive information, build trust across levels, and handle ambiguity without creating friction.
• Collaborative working style. Comfort operating through partnership and influence, with a low-ego approach to supporting a senior leader and the broader team.

Bonus Qualifications

• Chief of Staff or business-operations experience. Experience supporting a senior executive or running an operating cadence in a fast-moving company.
• Relevant industry exposure. Experience in energy, infrastructure, industrial technology, government, or another complex or regulated environment.
• Cross-functional familiarity. Experience working across strategy, finance, legal, government affairs, communications, or business-development teams.
• Analytical foundation. Prior consulting, corporate strategy, finance, or research experience that supports strong preparation and decision support.

• Anticipates practical needs. Looks ahead, notices gaps in ownership or preparation, and addresses them before they become problems.
• Uses judgment without overreaching. Knows when to act, when to recommend, and when a decision belongs with the CSO or another functional leader.
• Closes loops. Tracks commitments carefully and keeps work moving until there is a clear result, decision, or handoff.

About Oklo travel requirements

Significant travel for executive working sessions, team collaboration, and selected engagements may be required. Oklo requires remote employees to travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, California, twice per quarter based on business or team needs, including attendance at team meetings, off-sites, and other company events. For the first two weeks of onboarding, employees are required to be in person at headquarters in Santa Clara.

About Oklo compensation:

Salary: $225,000-$275,000

About Oklo Inc.: Oklo Inc. is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale; establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes; and advancing nuclear fuel recycling to convert nuclear waste into clean energy. Oklo was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant, was awarded fuel material from Idaho National Laboratory, and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
