KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, and coordinate operational facets of a specific Law School program including program-related workshops, events, and/or meetings.
  • Develop work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitor progress toward their achievement.
  • Serve as a liaison to and interact with individuals, groups, and organizations participating in the program or seeking knowledge of the program.
  • Develop promotional and communication materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.
  • Coordinate with the law library to manage access to, update, and maintain the Feminism and Legal Theory Project Archive.
  • Facilitate international visiting scholar program (including J-1 and H-1B visas) in conjunction with the International Student and Scholar Services office, supporting visiting scholars throughout their interactions with the VHC/FLT.
  • Manage communications, coordination, and event-planning for hybrid and in-person international academic workshops, visiting scholar presentations, and other events annually as needed.
  • Produce, interview, and edit audiovisual materials, including a monthly podcast and the oral history project, developed for the VHC and FLT.
  • Prepare annual reports.
  • Process departmental expenses.
  • Coordinate with other law school departments to facilitate project goals.
  • Support project guests, including professors, students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars.
  • May assist in identifying funding resources and in developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.
  • May maintain and update the departmental website.
  • May supervise program interns, fellows, and volunteers.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: 

  • Develop a working knowledge of all aspects of the Feminism and Legal Theory Project (FLT) and the Vulnerability and the Human Condition Initiative (VHC).
  • Maintain complete and accurate records to ensure compliance with immigration regulations for visiting scholars.
  • Collaborate with visiting researchers, postdoctoral fellows, undergraduate students, and law students interested in the projects.
  • Review and edit grant applications, project publications, social media, monthly digest, visiting scholar papers and presentations, books and articles, and additional materials as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize incoming work, manage information, and provide value-added service to others,
  • Cultural fluency and ability to work well with academics of various professional and cultural backgrounds,
  • Prior knowledge of or interest in feminism, law, legal theory, sociology, political science, philosophy, or social justice,
  • Familiarity or comfort with learning audiovisual editing programs such as Audacity, Canva, KDENlive, and/or Vimeo, or comfort with various technologies.
  • Ability to learn new programs and proactively apply creative solutions, and
  • Attention to detail.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
