Industry Mentor – Forward Deployed Engineer | Part-Time

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Industry Mentor to guide learners in building and deploying real-world technology solutions. The role involves technical mentoring, project reviews, practical problem-solving, and interview preparation.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in software engineering, customer-facing technical implementations, system integration, and working with cross-functional teams.

Role & Responsibilities

• Conduct live mentoring sessions on software engineering, system integration, and real-world implementation.

• Guide learners in translating business requirements into technical solutions.

• Review code, projects, system designs, and provide actionable feedback.

• Mentor learners on APIs, databases, cloud platforms, AI/ML integrations, and deployment.

• Help learners with debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and production-readiness.

• Conduct technical assessments, mock interviews, and project reviews.

• Share industry best practices around system design, scalability, security, and deployment.

• Collaborate with curriculum teams to improve practical projects and learning experiences.

• Track learner progress and help resolve technical blockers.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

• Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, or similar role.

• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar languages.

• Experience with APIs, databases, SQL, and software development.

• Understanding of cloud platforms and deployment workflows.

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

• Experience translating customer/business requirements into technical solutions.

• Prior experience in mentoring, teaching, training, or technical coaching.

Preferred

• Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders.

• Familiarity with AI/ML, LLMs, or Generative AI.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Knowledge of system design, microservices, and distributed systems.

• Experience conducting technical interviews or reviewing engineering projects.
