We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Dermatologists with strong expertise in clinical image interpretation, dermatological diagnosis, lesion description, differential assessment, and medical reasoning to contribute to advanced AI training and clinical-evaluation projects.
Selected professionals will apply dermatology expertise to non-clinical work involving image interpretation, structured annotation, case reasoning, AI-output review, and evaluation-framework development. This role does not involve direct patient care or responsibility for live diagnosis. Contributors join a shared expert pool and may be matched across multiple workstreams based on subspecialty, availability, and project needs.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Image Interpretation & Case Reasoning

Review dermatological images alongside relevant patient history and clinical context

Document diagnostic reasoning rather than providing only a final impression

Identify clinically significant findings using precise dermatological terminology

Evaluate presentations across the full range of skin tones

Apply specialist judgement to common, complex, and atypical dermatological cases
Image Annotation & Lesion Assessment

Annotate dermatological images according to structured project schemas
-
Describe lesion morphology, colour, configuration, distribution, and anatomical site
-
Maintain consistency and precision across repeated image-review tasks
-
Identify image features relevant to diagnosis and clinical interpretation

Support development of high-quality dermatological reference datasets
Differential Diagnosis & Severity Evaluation

Develop ranked differential diagnoses with supporting clinical reasoning
-
Assess severity, progression, and relevant visual changes where required
-
Distinguish plausible findings from unsupported or speculative conclusions
-
Apply appropriate clinical judgement to ambiguous or difficult presentations

Evaluate cases involving rarer conditions and diagnostically challenging appearances
AI Output Review & Clinical Quality

Review AI-generated dermatological assessments against professional clinical standards

Identify hallucinated findings, missed observations, and unsupported certainty

Assess the quality of diagnostic reasoning, terminology, and clinical interpretation

Provide structured feedback explaining significant weaknesses or errors

Help define what constitutes clinically sound and appropriately qualified dermatological analysis
Evaluation Criteria & Difficult-Case Development

Develop grading criteria and guidelines for consistent evaluation of dermatology outputs

Define distinctions between excellent, acceptable, and inadequate clinical assessments

Create difficult cases designed to test the limits of model reasoning
-
Incorporate variation in skin tone, presentation, severity, and diagnostic complexity

Contribute teaching, assessment, and rubric-design expertise where relevant
Ideal Profile
-
MD or DO with completed dermatology residency
-
Board certification through the ABD or equivalent certifying body in the country of practice, or board eligibility with residency completed
-
Active, unrestricted medical licence in the country of practice
-
3+ years of post-residency clinical dermatology experience
-
Strong ability to identify and describe dermatological conditions using precise medical terminology
-
Demonstrated competence evaluating dermatological presentations across varied skin tones
-
Strong diagnostic reasoning and differential-assessment skills
-
Written and spoken English fluency
-
Fellowship or focused practice in dermatopathology, paediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology, or complex medical dermatology is advantageous

U.S. licensure and board certification are particularly valuable
-
Medical image annotation, AI evaluation, or dataset-curation experience is beneficial
-
Teaching, rubric design, resident assessment, published research, or sustained technical writing experience is advantageous
-
Prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is not required
Engagement Details

Independent contractor engagement

Fully remote and open worldwide

Compensation: $270/hour

Minimum commitment: 15 hours per week, with the ability to concentrate hours during time-boxed workstreams

This is a non-clinical engagement with no direct patient care or responsibility for live diagnosis

Contributors join a shared expert pool and may move between concurrent workstreams based on subspecialty, availability, interest, and project priorities

Tasks may range from approximately 10 minutes for structured annotation to around 1 hour for full case authoring

Specific throughput expectations will be provided for each assigned workstream

Work may involve case interpretation, image annotation, differential assessment, severity grading, AI-output review, guideline development, and difficult-case authoring

Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered

Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance
