Overview:

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a West Coast Pitch Specialist. This hybrid position may be based in any of Orrick’s West Coast U.S. offices (Los Angeles, Orange County, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Monica or Seattle), with consideration given for 100% remote U.S. locations. Candidates must be able to work U.S. West Coast business hours.

The role: Orrick has an exciting opening for a West Coast Pitch Specialist. We are looking for someone ready to be challenged and build a career within an AmLaw Top 100 law firm known for delivering innovative solutions that integrate litigation, regulatory and transactional excellence.

What will I do? In this role, you will provide direct support to our Business Development team and lawyers in executing client-focused opportunity responses for our Litigation, IP and Employment business units, with additional support across the Pitch Team as needed.

You will be responsible for crafting tailored, persuasive proposals and pitch materials that differentiate the firm and position us to win new business. As an integral member of our global Pitch Team, you will support the pitch lifecycle from initial intake to final submission. This role requires strong writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

What responsibilities will you have?

  • Leading and supporting pitch, proposal and RFP responses including drafting, editing and coordination in collaboration with lawyers and staff.
  • Tracking the status of existing opportunity responses and managing opportunity data for assigned pitches, proposals and RFPs, including outcomes tracking.
  • Managing multiple proposals and pitch deck presentations simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including occasional after-hours or weekend support.
  • Developing and owning specific Pitch Team functions, as assigned by the Pitch Managers, to improve firmwide marketing and team processes, technology utilization and/or content.
  • Regularly reviewing and updating business development content for assigned practice areas to ensure consistent branding and messaging in collaboration with practice marketing teams.
  • Participating in pitch and proposal debriefs to identify opportunities to improve content, strategy and process.
Qualifications:

Your Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in a writing-intensive field preferred; or equivalent work experience. 
  • Two to three years of experience in proposal, RFP, grant writing or pitch deck development. Law firm/professional services experience or demonstrated experience developing high-quality pursuit content in other industries is a plus.
  • Exemplary writing skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive and client-focused content. Writing samples will be required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills, with the ability to review complex information and distill key insights into coherent, structured messaging.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate with stakeholders effectively.
  • Advanced computer skills necessary; very high proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint with an ability to become proficient in the use of the following marketing systems and tools: NetDocs, InTapp, ServiceNow, Foundation, Harvey AI, the firm’s tailored portal  and other relevant firm systems.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • New York City, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco $76,000 - $106,000
  • Washington DC, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica, Sacramento, Boston, and Seattle $73,000 - $105,000
  • All Other US Locations $71,000 - 105,000

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography.  Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
