NTT DATA currently seeks a Testing Engineering Specialist to join our team remote in the USA. 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Testing Engineer to support the testing and validation of healthcare applications and integrations. This role will focus heavily on HL7 v2.x, FHIR APIs, EDI X12 transactions, API testing, and backend data validation.

The ideal candidate will have strong Healthcare IT experience and a solid understanding of data exchanged between healthcare providers, payers, and third-party systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for healthcare applications involving HL7, FHIR, and EDI X12.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate inbound and outbound HL7 v2.x messages, including ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, and DFT.
• Test RESTful FHIR APIs, including Patient, Practitioner, Encounter, Observation, Medication, and Claim resources.
• Validate EDI X12 transactions, including 837, 835, 270/271, 276/277, and 278.
• Review business requirements, functional specifications, interface documentation, and API specifications to develop test scenarios and test cases.
• Execute SQL queries to validate backend data and ensure data integrity.
• Test healthcare system integrations using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, and Mirth Connect.
• Identify, document, track, and validate defects using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and Integration teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Prepare testing reports and communicate testing status to stakeholders.
• Support UAT and production validation activities.
• Ensure testing aligns with applicable healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience within Healthcare IT.
• 3+ years of experience testing HL7 v2.x interfaces.
• 2+ years of experience testing FHIR REST APIs.
• 2+ years of experience validating EDI X12 healthcare transactions, including 837, 835, 270/271, 276/277, and 278.
• 3+ years of manual software testing experience.
• 2+ years of API testing experience using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
• 3+ years of SQL experience for backend data validation.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, or other EMR/EHR platforms.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of healthcare integration engines such as Mirth Connect or Cloverleaf.
• Automation testing experience using Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Experience with API automation frameworks such as Rest Assured or Karate.
• Working knowledge of Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Experience testing microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, CMS, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
• ISTQB or other software testing certification.

• Experience within healthcare payer and/or provider environments.
• Understanding of U.S. healthcare workflows.
• Experience supporting CMS, Medicare, or Medicaid programs.
• Familiarity with healthcare coding and terminology standards, including ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED CT, and LOINC.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems.
• Exposure to performance and security testing for healthcare applications.
• Familiarity with HL7 message validation tools and FHIR validation frameworks.

NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting hourly range for this remote role is ($55-$61). This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
