Senior Integration Engineer

Position Title: _Senior Integration/API Software Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Sprezzatura is seeking an experienced Integration / API Software Engineer to support the implementation of a modernized financial and budget application for a federal client.

This hands-on technical role will design, develop, test, and support APIs and system integrations connecting modernized capabilities with existing enterprise and legacy applications. You will work closely with platform, data, functional, and testing teams to enable secure, reliable exchange of financial, acquisition, planning, and related enterprise data.

The ideal candidate combines strong software/API development skills with knowledge of Federal or VA enterprise systems, legacy applications, data structures, and integration patterns. Prior OneStream experience is not required as you will partner with OneStream technical resources responsible for the platform-side implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations connecting legacy and modern enterprise applications
• Analyze existing system interfaces, data structures, business rules, and dependencies to support modernization and integration activities
• Develop and maintain API contracts, interface specifications, data mappings, transformations, and related technical documentation
• Develop secure, reusable integration components using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns
• Implement authentication and authorization, input/schema validation, error handling, logging, retries, exception handling, and other controls necessary for reliable integrations
• Develop data transformation and mapping logic to support information exchange between systems with differing data models and structures
• Work with OneStream developers and data integration resources to define how external data will be exchanged with and consumed by the platform
• Support data validation, reconciliation, control totals, duplicate detection, and exception processing to ensure interface accuracy and completeness
• Develop and execute automated API and integration tests and support end-to-end and regression testing
• Troubleshoot interface, API, data, connectivity, and performance issues across integrated systems and support root-cause analysis and resolution
• Participate in code reviews, configuration/version control, CI/CD processes, release activities, and production support
• Collaborate with architects, developers, BAs, data engineers, security resources, and testers throughout the integration lifecycle

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of software development or systems integration experience, including significant hands-on API or backend development
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and supporting RESTful APIs and enterprise system integrations
• Proficiency with Java, C#/.NET, Python, or comparable backend development technologies 
• Experience working with JSON, XML, REST, HTTP/HTTPS, and API specifications such as OpenAPI/Swagger
• Experience with API authentication and authorization approaches such as OAuth 2.0, tokens, certificates, or similar enterprise security mechanisms
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation
• Experience implementing robust integration controls including logging, error handling, retries, exception management, and monitoring 
• Experience with source/version control such as Git and modern software development practices
• Experience developing or executing automated API/integration tests using tools or frameworks such as Postman/Newman or comparable technologies
• Experience troubleshooting complex interfaces and data exchanges across multiple enterprise systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to meet applicable Federal background investigation/security requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience developing or supporting VA enterprise or legacy applications and interfaces. 
• Knowledge of VA financial, acquisition, planning, project-management, or IT management systems and associated data
• Experience integrating legacy applications with modern SaaS, cloud, ERP/EPM, or workflow platforms
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns including synchronous/asynchronous interfaces, event-driven processing, scheduled/batch exchanges, and message-based integration
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated quality gates, and secure software development practices
• Experience with Federal security, data protection, auditability, and technical standards
• OneStream or comparable configurable enterprise platform integration experience is beneficial but not required

WORKING CONDITIONS

Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday. Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs. Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting on remote days. 

PAY RANGE

The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on geographic work location, relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, security clearance, and contract requirements. Geographic salary ranges are determined in accordance with the company's compensation practices and represent a good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting.
