About the role

Our Business Development team focuses on identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding Solvay's presence in high-growth markets.

As a Business Development & Sales Manager – Rare Earth & Specialty Chemical Solutions, you will be responsible for developing, promoting, and selling specialty chemical solutions used in the manufacture of permanent magnets and magnetic materials across North America. In this role, you will serve as the primary commercial interface between customers and Solvay, driving revenue growth while developing long-term strategic partnerships throughout the rare earth and magnetic materials value chain. You will collaborate closely with customers, R&D, product management, operations, and supply chain teams to identify opportunities, support commercialization activities, and accelerate growth in markets such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics, industrial motors, aerospace, and defense.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to technologies that support electrification, sustainability, and next-generation manufacturing while helping shape Solvay’s growth strategy in a rapidly evolving industry.

You will be accountable for:

    • Develop and execute business development strategies to grow market share and revenue within the rare earth and permanent magnet industry
    • Build and maintain strategic relationships with magnet manufacturers, alloy producers, recyclers, OEMs, and key industry stakeholders
    • Identify new business opportunities through market analysis, competitive intelligence, and customer engagement activities
    • Collaborate with internal teams to support product qualification, commercialization efforts, and customer technical requirements
    • Manage strategic accounts, commercial negotiations, sales forecasts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve business objectives

We offer at-will employment based in the United States with a remote working model and travel requirements of approximately 30-50% throughout North America, along with occasional international travel to company locations.

About you

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum of 7 years of sales, business development, account management, or commercial experience within the chemical, specialty materials, rare earth, advanced materials, or magnet industries.

Experience working within industrial manufacturing environments and familiarity with material qualification processes. Knowledge of permanent magnets, magnetic materials, rare earth products, or related technologies is highly desirable.

About the pay

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role is: $129,000-$161,000 per year in the United States.

 Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
