We’re an early-stage startup in the optometry space. We have real momentum: $25k in ARR from our first practice, a design partner we work with daily, and 30+ doctors already lined up for rollout. 

The product direction is clear. The challenge is execution. 
 

We’re looking for a founding engineer to own a core workflow end-to-end and take it from “mostly working” to live with real users. This is a build-first role with high ownership, minimal process, and direct exposure to customer feedback. 

 We’re open to starting with a short, paid sprint to move fast and ensure mutual fit before committing longer-term.

• Build for real users from day one: Join a product that already has $25K ARR, an active design partner, and 30+ doctors lined up for rollout.
• True Staff-level ownership: Own a core product workflow end-to-end and directly influence architecture, technical decisions, and product direction.
• Direct founder access: Work closely with the founder and customers, with minimal bureaucracy and fast decision-making.

What you’ll do 

• Own and ship a core product flow end-to-end (backend + basic UI) 

• Debug and unblock real-world integration and data issues 

• Make pragmatic tradeoffs to get something working in production 

• Work closely with the founder and a design partner practices 

• Shape early technical decisions that will have long-term impact 

What we’re looking for 

• Experience operating as a senior, staff, or founding-level IC 

• Comfort working in ambiguous, early-stage environments 

• Strong ownership mindset — you take problems, not tickets 

• Bias toward shipping over perfection 

• Full-stack or backend-leaning, with willingness to touch frontend 

We’re building a modern, frontend-forward product with a pragmatic backend: 

• Frontend: React + TypeScript (Vite) 

• Styling & UI: Tailwind CSS 

• Backend & Infra: Firebase (Auth, database, functions) 

• Analytics: PostHog 

 You don’t need prior experience with this exact stack just good judgment and the ability to ship matter more.
