Your mission

deskbird is one of Europe's fastest-growing workplace-management platforms – a SaaS success story serving hundreds of enterprise customers and building the operating system for the workplace of the future, well past €10M ARR and scaling with an efficiency-driven playbook. In 2025 we closed a funding round led by Octopus Ventures, with co-investments from NEVA SGR (Intesa Sanpaolo Bank) and AVP, and participation from Alstin Capital, session, and Portfolion.

We're hiring a Chief Financial Officer (all genders) to be a true co-pilot to the management team. This is not just a back-office finance role. You will sit in board meetings from day one, own the equity story, lead our future financing rounds and capital markets strategy, and run an AI-first operations function that becomes a case study in how lean a modern finance organization can be.

You'll join a small, talented, highly ambitious executive team – and the equity package is designed so that when we win, you win meaningfully.

In this role you will

1. The equity story and funding readiness. You will keep deskbird in the best possible shape for whatever comes next - future financing rounds, strategic options, and long-term value creation. Narrative, metrics, data room, diligence readiness: always current, always credible. When we choose to run a process, you will lead it, working directly with the founders and board.

2. The path to profitability. You’ll own the plan that takes us to sustainable positive cash flows profitability without sacrificing growth: driver-based planning, disciplined capital allocation, and a sharp view on where every franc and euro works hardest.

3. An AI-first finance & operations function. We want a hands-on operator on the edge of AI development who automates before hiring, works in the models and tools personally, and proves that a lean, AI-augmented team can outperform a traditional org several times its size. We don’t want a CFO who builds a 20-person department.

4. Commercial intelligence for GTM and Product. You’ll drive the insights that tell us where to invest: which segments, motions, and product bets deliver the strongest combined growth and efficiency profile. Finance at deskbird is a value driver in pricing, packaging, NRR economics, and unit-economics decisions - not just a scorekeeper.

5. International structure and tax efficiency. You’ll own our multi-entity group structure across Europe, introduce transfer pricing, and ensure we operate in a tax-efficient, fully compliant setup as we scale internationally.

6. The cap table and investor-grade financials. You’ll keep our cap table and VSOP clean, well-modeled, and always ready for the next financing round, and bring our accounting to the  standard any institutional investor expects - SaaS revenue recognition (local GAAP) done right, smooth statutory audits, and, where a future process demands it, conversion to the relevant GAAP.

7. Board and investor relations. You’ll run the reporting rhythm, build trust with our existing investors, and represent deskbird credibly to future ones - from day one, alongside the founders.

8. Cash, risk, and the operational backbone. Treasury, FX, and runway discipline, scenario planning, audit readiness, and oversight of legal, procurement, and insurance.
   
   
   

What you need to be successful

• A transaction-shaped career: ideally PE, M&A or investment banking, followed by operating experience in a scaling company - you’ve seen deals from the inside and know what investors actually sign up for. (Exceptional candidates from transaction advisory (e.g. Big4) or top-tier strategy consulting with strong deal exposure will also be considered.)
• Deep fluency in finance processes and B2B SaaS mechanics: ARR/NRR, cohort economics, CAC payback, Rule of 40, the ARR-to-cash bridge.
• Experience at our scale and complexity (>€10M ARR, ~100+ employees) - and ideally, you’ve already seen what comes next (>€25M ARR), so you know what to build now and what to deliberately skip.
• Fundraising and/or liquidity event exposure, ideally where the story was efficient, profitable growth rather than growth at all costs.
• A builder’s ego profile: you measure yourself by enterprise value created per person on your team, not by headcount or budget owned. You’re hands-on and want to stay that way.
• Genuine excitement about AI-native ways of working - you’re already using these tools daily and want to push further.
• Based in or willing to work from one of our hubs - Zurich, Berlin, Munich, or London (remote within Europe is possible for an outstanding candidate, but hub-based is our strong preference given the closeness to founders and board). Full working proficiency in English; German is strongly preferred.

• Experience owning or partnering closely with People & Culture.
• Multi-entity European operations: Swiss/EU accounting, VAT, transfer pricing, cross-border payroll.
• Venture debt, structured financing, or buy-side M&A experience.
