Connected Logistics is seeking a Mid-Level Security Engineer (Security Automation Engineer)  to support the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering Services supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information Security (OIS) Cybersecurity Operations Systems Engineering (COSE) program.

The Mid-Level Security Engineer (Security Automation Engineer) serves as a SME supporting cybersecurity and privacy operations, with a primary focus on Personally Identifiable Information (PII) incident response, data loss prevention, and security control implementation. This position identifies, contains, eradicates, and supports recovery from PII incidents and PII-related data breaches while ensuring compliance with information security and privacy requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end incident response activities for PII incidents and PII-related data breaches, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery. 
  • Utilize Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools to identify PII that is improperly stored at rest or improperly transmitted. 
  • Quarantine improperly stored PII and support remediation activities to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. 
  • Assess PII-related security risks and recommend appropriate corrective and risk-mitigation actions. 
  • Ensure appropriate security controls and safeguards are implemented to protect sensitive and personally identifiable information. 
  • Engage with stakeholders and mission partners to coordinate security response, containment, eradication, and recovery activities. 
  • Validate completion and effectiveness of remedial actions resulting from PII incidents. 
  • Ensure cybersecurity and privacy activities comply with applicable information security and privacy policies. 
  • Support security automation and repeatable processes that improve the efficiency and consistency of security monitoring, incident response, and remediation activities. 
Requirements
  • Public Trust: T4 or T5 (TS)
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline or an Associate's degree in the above discipline with an additional 2 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, security architecture, information technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience supporting PII incident response and data breach management. 
  • Experience using Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies to identify, investigate, quarantine, and remediate improperly stored or transmitted sensitive data. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity incident response processes, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery. 
  • Ability to assess security risks and recommend appropriate technical and procedural controls. 
  • Experience working with technical teams, stakeholders, and mission partners to coordinate cybersecurity remediation activities. 
  • Knowledge of DoD information security and privacy requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting cybersecurity or privacy operations within environments. 
  • Hands-on experience configuring, operating, or administering enterprise DLP solutions. 
  • Experience with security automation, including automating security monitoring, incident response, investigation, or remediation workflows. 
  • Familiarity with security orchestration and automated response processes and technologies. 
  • Experience investigating PII exposure across both data at rest and data in transit. 
  • Understanding of cybersecurity controls, privacy safeguards, risk mitigation, and compliance validation in federal environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical security findings, remediation requirements, and risk recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is a good-faith range based on factors such as your experience, geographic location, and any applicable contractual requirements, and may vary slightly.
