Primary Responsibilities: 

The Systems Administrator at DBM is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and managing computer systems across the organization. This includes installing and configuring hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring system security, and providing technical support to users. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide initial point of contact for users requiring technical assistance via phone, email, or our helpdesk system. 
  • Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems (Windows, Linux) on servers and workstations. 

Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, and vCenter servers. 

  • Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring access is appropriate and secure. 
  • Apply software updates and patches to maintain system stability and security. 
  • Implement and manage data backup procedures to safeguard against data loss. 
  • Maintain and secure network infrastructure, managing user access and ensuring network stability. 
  • Configure, manage, and monitor cloud environments such as Microsoft 365 and Azure. 
  • Assist users in maximizing the functionality of organization-specific applications by providing guidance and recommendations. 
  • Some travel is required to support three office locations operating on separate networks. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager. 
Requirements

Educational/Training Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (Required) 

Licensing Requirements: 

  • Microsoft Certified (Preferred) 

Experience Requirements: 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 
  • 2-4 years of previous work experience in a systems administrator role (Required) 
  • Experience in a healthcare/laboratory setting (Preferred) 
  • Knowledge of Windows 10/Windows 11 (Required) 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022 and Linux (Required) 

Knowledge of VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V (Required) 

  • Knowledge of Active Directory (Required) 
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network topology (Required) 
  • Knowledge of administering Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud environments (Required) 
  • Competence with common applications such as word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Office 365) (Required) 
  • Knowledge of Firewall/VPN basics (Required) 
  • Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Server) (Required) 
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and log analysis (Required) 
  • Understanding of hardware components such as disk, memory, and CPU (Required) 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and manage projects effectively. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 
  • Capability to thrive in a remote work environment with minimal supervision. 

Work Environment: 

This role includes long periods of sitting at a workstation, frequent standing and/or walking, frequent repetitive motions, and the occasional ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. The noise level is usually moderate. The position works from home with occasional travel to DBM office, laboratory, and hospital locations in North Carolina and South Carolina. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of varying weights. 
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and engage in physical activities related to the job
