For more than a decade, Alliance Clinical Network's fully integrated, wholly owned and operated clinical research sites have helped advance human health by delivering exceptional clinical trial data gathered from a proprietary, ready-to-tap, group of >250,000 diverse participants. We bring our sponsors and partner CROs three key advantages: * Expedited study startup and rapid enrollment * Comprehensive focus on quality for reliable, audit-ready data * 85% of participant population drawn from underrepresented groups While each of our eight sites is affiliated with a local hospital, our centralized management standardizes processes and technology across them all. That maximizes efficiency, enhances quality, and ensures consistent study execution. It also creates a solid foundation from which to easily scale to meet study needs.

Job description

Summary:

The National Medical Doctor (NMD) is a pivotal executive operational role responsible for driving network-wide recruitment performance, trial execution, and clinical risk management across all site locations. Working closely with the CMO, the NMD will serve as one of the primary operational connectors between executive leadership, commercial partners, and site-level Principal Investigators (PIs), including all sub-investigators (Sub-Is).

Balancing commercial leadership and clinical execution/risk oversight, the NMD will support the CMO acting as an additional authoritative, commercial face of clinical operations. The position requires a decisive, highly persuasive physician leader capable of managing PI’s, enforcing aggressive enrollment velocity, resolving complex site operational bottlenecks, and commanding conference stages to articulate the network's high-throughput delivery model to industry stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accelerate Patient Recruitment: Enforce operational rigor across all sites to meet and exceed aggressive patient enrollment targets for multi-site Phase II–III clinical trials.
  • Lead Principal Investigator Alignment: Assist CMO with leading weekly network-wide PI and Sub-I calls to drive operational accountability, streamline recruitment workflows, and eliminate site-level execution hurdles.
  • Mitigate Clinical Risk: Ensure network-wide clinical risk management strategies, ensuring trial integrity, strict protocol adherence, and patient safety without compromising trial throughput.
  • Drive Commercial Storytelling: Partner closely with CMO and internal business development teams to credibly communicate site capabilities, infrastructure strength, and enrollment speed to sponsors, CROs, and physician networks.
  • Command External Presence: Represent Alliance Clinical Network as a clinical executive at major industry conferences and commercial venues, delivering compelling, data-backed operational narratives to capture larger contract allocations.
  • Scale Platform Capabilities: Collaborate with CMO and executive management on de novo site expansions (~3 per year) to rapidly integrate clinical workflows, onboard high-performing PIs, and expand therapeutic throughput.
  • Manage & Mentor Site PIs: Serve as an influential peer leader to site PIs and the Sub-I network, fostering an execution-oriented, humble, and compliant culture aligned with the network's high-volume operational pace.
  • Quality Management: Address and resolve PI/Sub-I performance gaps, protocol non-compliance, and enrollment shortfalls through decisive, peer-to-peer performance management.
  • Integrate Merged Platform Operations: Harmonize clinical standards and trial oversight across newly acquired and de novo sites, mitigating post-merger operational complexity across the seven-state footprint.
  • Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • US-trained and accredited MD or DO
  • “Generalist” specialty preferred (e.g., Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Immunology).
  • Active medical license (or ability to become credentialed) in jurisdiction(s) in which ACN operates.
  • Proven background in a national medical director capacity, focused on PI performance management, patient recruitment execution, and trial throughput.
  • Multi-unit site experience within a dedicated clinical trial site network, SMO, or national medical platform.
  • Demonstrated expertise overseeing high-volume Phase II–III generalist clinical trials across diverse therapeutic areas (e.g., CNS, GI, metabolic, dermatology, vaccines, or women's health).
  • Strong business acumen, sense of urgency, and adaptability to PE-backed operational tempos, key performance indicators, and growth roadmaps.
  • Superior communication skills and commanding stage presence necessary to serve as an executive sponsor, pitch site capabilities, and drive commercial growth.
  • Preference for candidates based in or willing to locate to Southlake/Dallas, TX; candidates residing within the seven-state network footprint (AZ, CA, FL, NV, NY, PA, TX) will be fully considered.

ACN does not provide visa sponsorship for this role. Candidates who will require immigration or visa sponsorship at any time now or in the future (including, but not limited to, H‑1B, TN, or STEM OPT training plans) are not eligible for this role.
