Summary:
Goldbelt Quantum Solutions is seeking a Statistician IV to provide statistical analysis support within the Epidemiology Research and Innovations Branch (ERIB).
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct statistical analyses and consulting services to CDC SMEs on HAI and antimicrobial stewardship studies.
- Apply and recommend statistical principles, survey sampling design, longitudinal/time series analysis, and statistical software (R, PySpark, Python, SAS).
- Conduct data analyses, including cohort studies, case-control studies, Bayesian inference, or MCMC methods.
- Prepare preliminary interpretations of analyses for scientific and public audiences, project teams, and/or management.
- Prepare technical and non-technical summaries, reports, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
- Disseminate scientific information related to multidrug-resistant organisms and HAI through presentations, reports, and other materials.
- Advise and consult on statistical methods and quantitative analysis for SMEs, senior scientists, and organizations working on HAI surveillance and infection control.
- Assist in writing protocols describing standard practices for statistical analyses of studies conducted by DHQP or in collaboration with other agencies.
- Provide accelerated analysis and evaluation during agency emergencies to support critical decisions.
- Provide leadership to develop new analytic approaches for infection prevention and control studies.
- Apply analytic expertise to health data sources (Premier Healthcare Data, Truveta, Medicare claims, MarketScan, EIP, NHSN, and inpatient data files).
- Consult on study design and analyses with clinicians, medical epidemiologists, and scientific researchers.
- Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission.
Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to perform appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical analyses and interpret the results accurately.
- Ability to select appropriate statistical methods based on the research question, study design, and characteristics of the data.
- Ability to develop and interpret statistical tables, figures, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to communicate statistical findings clearly to epidemiologists, public-health professionals, program managers, leadership, and other nonstatistical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in statistics, biostatistics, public health, epidemiology, healthcare analytics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, probability, statistical inference, and study design.
- Experience analyzing public-health, healthcare, clinical, surveillance, survey, or population-based data.
- Strong proficiency with statistical programming language or software package, such as SAS, R, Stata, PySpark, Python, and SPSS.
- Experience with data cleaning, validation, transformation, and preparation for statistical analysis.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, mathematics, public health, data science, or a closely related field with 5+ years of experience.
- Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $145,000 annually.
