TITLE:                  Senior Engineer, High Voltage Project Engineer (multiple positions available)           

EMPLOYER:        AES Clean Energy Services, LLC

LOCATION:        2180 S 1300 E, Ste 600, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 (100% Remote; position may be performed from anywhere in the U.S. Travel and fieldwork 25%. Projects are located across the country, but this position will support wind (anywhere) and PV/BESS (west coast)

DUTIES: Oversee the execution of high voltage projects located across the country but heavily in the Western United

States portfolio (California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Hawaii) and Wind projects throughout the country. May be

assigned projects which may range in complexity – either from a logistics or technical perspective and is expected to be

able to support a project through distressed periods with support from their team. Coordinate deliverables through internal

and external parties, using a wide breadth of technical skills (i.e. P&C design, physical substation design, modelling,

interconnection, t-line design). Responsible for oversight of EPC contractor engineering design and construction activities

for Solar, Wind, BESS and Data Center collector high voltage substations, transmission lines and switchyards (35kV to

500kV). Establish and maintain relationships with high voltage contractors. Review Substation EPC designs for compliance

with interconnection agreement requirements, applicable reliability standards, standard industry practices, etc. Provide

design review and advice on any issues that appear technically incorrect or inconsistent with project documentation.

Coordinate the review power system studies such as load flows, short circuits, harmonics, TOV, insulation coordination, etc. Direct coordination with interconnection providers to design collector substations per Transmission Provider requirements. Support role during substation commissioning by reviewing apparatus testing and coordinating testing with utility and ISO. Work with a project team including real estate, permitting, interconnection, attorneys, finance, and construction in the field.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines

and 18 months of engineering experience

Experience must include the following:

  • 18 months experience with Protection and Control (P&C) Engineering
  • 18 months experience with technical report writing and design package preparation
  • 18 months of experience applying knowledge of industry engineering standards, including IEEE, NEC and ANSI
  • 18 months of experience with Substation physical design
  • 18 months of experience with Equipment specification and Vendor Coordination
  • 6 months of experience with AutoCAD/Bluebeam for electrical drafting

SALARY: The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $138,250 - $146,500

USD/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market

location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes

annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k)

eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave). Details of participation in these

benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will

position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or

compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual

department/team performance, and market factors.)
