Standards • Must be able to work in a fast paced, often stressful environment. • Must have good communication skills. • Must have the ability to set and reset priorities. • Must have excellent customer service skills. • Ability to work in a fast passed critical care environment. - ICU: • Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards • Basic clerical skills such as organizing paperwork, filing, answering telephones, paging • Performing technical skills (EKG, Accucheck, phlebotomy) • Ability to effectively speak, read and write using the English language • Ability to pass clinical competency, basic math and reading testing • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements, to measure height and weight, intake and output and calorie counts • Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations • Ability to enter and retrieve computerized information • Physical ability to push, transfer, and pull heavy loads throughout assigned shift • Physical ability to meet core job requirements in accordance with practice setting demands, for the patient populations regularly served • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with nursing staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, and other hospital staff • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work • Ability to manage stress related to patient care issues and changing hospital climate and personnel issues. - OPIC: • Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Per Diem: 16 shifts in 6 months. At least 1-2 weekend shifts a month. 8 hour shifts minimum. Weekend and Holiday Rotation.
